Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar – Cuban Restaurants in Philadelphia

‘Old Havana Meets Old City’

Cuba Libre, which is located in Old City, is a classy-romantic Cuban Restaurant, especially known for their mojitos. This two-story restaurant-rum bar, which opened in December of 1999, brings Havana, Cuba to Old City, Philadelphia.

Cuba Libre Experience & Atmosphere

Cuba Libre takes you back to 1940’s Havanah. This is done with the open courtyard with tables, the skylight, palm trees, and the rooftop deck above the courtyard. In the background, you’ll usually hear upbeat Latin music. Where else in Old City can you experience this kind of ambiance.

Guillermo Pernot, who is the Concept Chef at Cuba Libre, invites you to enjoy his delectable menu of Cuban dishes, which represent traditional favorites. Such favorites as the El Cubano, a Cuban sandwich which consists of a sour orange marinated pork loin, Genoa slami, ham, provolone, and Swiss cheese with yellow mustard-pickle relish. Another is the Vaca Frita, a tender braised and crisped-shredded flank steak with roasted onions and citrus-garlic sauce that is served with white rice and Cuban black beans. The restaurants all-time favorite is the Churrasco a la Cubana, which is a griled skirt steak, with roasted garlic boniato-potato mash, parsley, lemon, and onion sauce. Also served with a watercress and rosemary mushroom escabeche salad.

Want to experience Cuban drinks? This establishment is known for its mojitos and 80 plus rums. Feeling out of your zone?  How about a blueberry mojito or the grilled pineapple mojito. You also can’t go wrong with the many types of Caiprihinas that are served, which is Brazil’s national cocktail.

Looking for a good wine? Choose from the vast selection of Latin-American wines from Chile, Peru, Argentina, or Spain.

At Cuba Libre in Philadelphia, your dining experience will be eventful, no matter if it’s the food, the drinks, the dancing, or a combination of any of the above. Just keep in mind that it does get crowded on the weekends and you should make sure that you call ahead for reservations. Enjoy ~
