El Vez, a Stephen Starr restaurant, is a fun Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia. It’s in the Market East neighborhood and is especially good if you like a tasty margarita.
The El Vez Mexican Restaurant Experience and Atmosphere
El Vez in Philadelphia can be explained in a few words; modern, contemporary, and fun. There are multi-colored mosaics throughout with circular velvet booths for comfortable seating. Sure, it can be loud at times with the modern music playing in the background and the open space, but it’s a fun place to hang out with friends and co-workers 7 days a week. A good time to hang with friends would be around the mid-afternoon hours on a Saturday when it’s slightly less crowded.
When it comes to Mexican food, El Vez is known for their house-made guacamole. I especially love their chips because they are hard with a flavorful taste. I always love a good beef enchilada, which El Vez does not have. So I tried the El Vez Enchiladas Mixtas, which was a mix of three enchiladas with traditional garnishes. Their enchilada is like a toquita, but with a rounder shape. The three enchiladas are of shrimp, black bean, and chicken. I really enjoyed the selections, the different tastes, and would recommend this if you are a fan of enchiladas.
My El Vez experience is that I am always meeting someone new when I go there, which seems to attract very nice people, even those that are visiting Philadelphia. And if you like good margaritas, El Vez has a few of their signature drinks, which are the blood orange margaritas or the golden margaritas.
