With so many spooks, murder mysteries, ghost stories and much more surrounding Halloween in Philadelphia, we had to add to our list of Halloween attractions and events in Philadelphia. The repetitive question is, “do you dare…”, taking a frightful leap and trying any of these out.

 

Halloween Attractions & Events in Philadelphia – (in no particular order)

 

Have you ever wondered where the first kidnapping for ransom was? Where the first bank robbery in the country happened? Where a Doctor would waken to find over 40 dead in one night on a specific street in Philadelphia from the fever?  This is not your typical Ghost Tour which is hosted by the Philadelphia Sight Seeing Tours company.

Location :  The Historical Bourse Building (out front) – 111 S. Independence Mall East in Philly  | Dates : Starting Wednesday 19th : Wednesdays – Sundays through October 30th

The Philadelphia Zoo has tricks and treats for the whole family. Come to the zoo dressed in your costumes while playing your favorite Halloween games, listening to music, and much more. Click on the dates below for different events.

Location : 3400 W. Girard Ave Philadelphia – Directions  |  Dates : October 22-23 & October 29-30

The Rosenbach Museum and Library has the Dracula Festival, a month long series of events, that were inspired by Bram Stoker’s classic novel and the character Dracula.  The festival includes a hands-on tour of Stoker’s notes showing the growth of Dracula, a solo performance by Josh Hitchens, a conversation with the curator, and much more. ~ 2011 Dracula Festival Scehdule ~

Put on by the Chadds Ford Historical Society, there are hayrides, food, and live music on all 3 days. On Thursday the 27th only, you can watch local artists carve huge pumpkins. ~ The Great Pumpkin Carve ~

Location : Allentown, PA – 60 minutes from Philadelphia  |  Dates : Fridays – Sundays in October

Imagine being on a hayride that takes you deep into the woods, not knowing if you will ever return. Also experience two haunted houses, Shipwreck Cove, or walk through the Haunted Forrest Maze.  Specials : 4 for 2 on Thursday 20th (get all 4 attractions for the price of 2)

Halloween at Dorney Park in the Dark allows for thrill-seekers to ride the “roller ghosters”, while visiting other spooky attractions and live entertainment.

Location : Hersehy Park, PA – 90 minutes from Philadelphia – directions  |  Dates : October 14-16, 21-23, 28-30

A chance for little ones to win costume prizes while trick-or-treating at participating restaurants, shops, and hotels around Rittenhouse.

Location : Rittenhouse Square area in Philadelphia – 1731 Chestnut Street  | Dates :  Saturday, October 29th

Visitors will be confronted by the frightening experiments of Dr. Helene Tesla on the Battleship of New Jersey. Also, enjoy a thrill ride adventure land-side on the Flight Simulator featuring “Superstition” and “Haunted Castle”.
