The Philadelphia Phillies took game #3, thanks to the help of Ben Francisco’s 3-run home-run. It was a great pitching dual leading up to the 7th inning when Francisco hit his bomb. Prior to this, Jaime Garcia had been cruising with a low pitch count, and had kept the Phillies at bay. Luckily the Phillies bats came alive and Cole Hamels, even though having some control problems, was able to keep the Cardinals off the score board.

The end result was that the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Saint Louis Cardinals 3-2 and now lead the series 2-1. In tonight’s game, the Phillies put Roy Oswalt on the mound and the St. Louis Cardinals have Edwin Jackson. Jackson has pitched 4.1 innings in post season as opposed to Oswalt’s 66.1 innings. Even though Oswalt was injured in the middle of the season, and had a few shaky games when coming back, his velocity has looked much stronger. And for the fact that his control has been much better.

My prediction : Phillies over the Cardinals – Why? The Phillies bats have been coming alive either in the beginning of the game or after the 6th inning, when it seems that the Cardinals pitchers are cruising. If Roy Oswalt can keep the Cardinals out of the Phillies bull pen until the 8th inning, I really like the Phillies chances. If not, one could say that the Phillies would have Doc Halladay in game 5 in Philadelphia. All I can say is that this series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Saint Louis Cardinals has not been a cake walk for either club. It’s been intense and exciting.
