Tír na nÓg Irish Bar in Philadelphia

Tír na nÓg Irish Bar and Grill has an unique style and presence with it’s warm charm when first walking into this establishment. Located in the Phoenix Hotel, with it’s own entrance from the streets, Tír na nÓg sits in a busy Philadelphia business district.

Why is Tír na nÓg unique?

Tír na nÓg, after being successful in Manhattan, opened in 2002 in the City of Philadelphia. A design team from Ireland brought in architectural pieces, furniture, and bric-a-brac from churches and castles which has added some of the history and culture of Ireland. Between that and the dark wood, this has combined to make Tír na nÓg a warm and inviting atmosphere for both locals and those visiting Philadelphia.

I have had the pleasure of meeting two bartenders, Christine and Gary, both who are from Ireland, who both have their Irish accents. There is even Patrick, a local construction worker who stops in frequently, who came over from Ireland over 13 years ago. At any given point, it seems that you will get to enjoy a pint of Guinness with someone from Ireland, while enjoying the Irish ambiance of this wonderful Irish bar in Philadelphia.

Tír na nÓg’s Food and Drinks

When visiting an Irish bar in Philadelphia, I am always looking at trying either one of the traditional Irish foods, the Bangers and Mash or a Shepherds Pie. This time I had Tír na nÓg’s build your own burger, in which I had cheddar cheese and bacon on mine. For not being known as a burger joint, I really enjoyed my meal. The burger was done to perfection, nice and juicy. I have even tried the Corned Beef Spring Rolls before, which I thought were very good.

When it comes to draught beers, Tír na nÓg has 11 domestic beers and 12 import beers, to add to their 30 plus bottled beers selection, giving you a wide range to choose from. And of course they have the typical scotches, whiskies, and wines.
