O’Neals Irish Pub & Restaurant – Irish Bars in Philadelphia & Sports Bars in Philadelphia

O’Neals Irish Bar in Philadelphia is not just a neighborhood watering hole near South Street, a place like Cheers, where everyone knows your name, but a good place to watch sporting events. O’Neals is South Streets longest running family owned and operated Irish Pub.

The O’Neals Pub Atmosphere & Experience

When walking into O’Neals Irish Pub, it looks small and quaint, but is actually bigger than one would think. The pub/restaurant is three floors large and long. The second floor is where they will hold their dart tournaments and crazy karaoke. The third floor is where you can rent it for private parties or functions, just as the second floor can be booked if needed.

Everyone is very friendly at O’Neals, from the bar and wait staff, to the patrons, and Spoonie who is one of the owners who can be found there most times. No matter if you are a regular or visiting Philadelphia, you are definitely made to feel at home.

The other day I stopped in for a bite to eat and had their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Not only was it very good, but it was a good-sized proportion fit for a hungry man. I even had my choice of 9 sides. My choices were fries, tator tots, salad, onion rings, cole slaw, mac ’n cheese, garlic mash potatos, mixed veggies, and baked beans. I am looking forward to my next meal there, which I will try either the hot roast beef au jus or their Sheperd’s pie. I even have heard that they have a killer Irish beef stew.

O’neals has great happy hour deals and daily beer specials, plus the food is affordable and pretty good. They have 19 + Beers on draught, including the area’s only “Real Ale” beer engine and over 100 bottles available for six-pack takeout. The Pub also features rare Irish Whiskeys, 13 single malt Scotches, and hard to find Cognacs.

What makes O’Neals Irish Pub fun and different from so many Irish Bars in Philadelphia is its very diverse crowd. People ranging from various union tradesmen, to professional business owners, dart players, Rugby players, skateboarders, musicians, or just the hip crowd looking for a fun evening out. The end result is that you have an Irish Pub in Philadelphia that allows you to be yourself while having a good time.
