Family-Friendly Daytime Fun: Boo at the Zoo

If you are looking for the premier destination to celebrate Halloween with kids in the Delaware Valley, look no further than America’s first zoo. Traditionally a shorter weekend event, the wildly popular daytime celebration has undergone a massive upgrade for the 2026 season.

For the first time in its 20-year history, Philadelphia Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo expands to a month-long Halloween extravaganza for 2026. Running every weekend from October 3rd through November 1st, the 42-acre campus is packed with seasonal attractions. Families can ride the new 10-story Pherris Wheel for unparalleled views of the fall foliage, navigate paths guarded by two dozen 12-foot skeletons, and participate in inclusive trick-or-treating thanks to the allergy-friendly Teal Pumpkin Project.

Be sure to plan your visit around the animal feeding schedules—watching the zoo’s viral hippos completely crush giant pumpkins is an unforgettable autumn highlight.
