The Philadelphia dining scene is no stranger to high-profile collaborations, but this April, a reunion of culinary heavyweights is bringing the “dock-to-table” soul of Charleston to Washington Square West.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the acclaimed Chubby Fish is taking over High Street for a one-night-only pop-up event. This isn’t just a visiting chef series; it is a homecoming and a reunion for two of the industry’s most respected figures.
The Torrisi Connection
The collaboration serves as a “reunion tour” for Chubby Fish’s Chef James London and High Street Hospitality co-owner Eli Kulp. The two originally worked side-by-side at the legendary Torrisi in New York City.
Years later, London has transformed the Charleston seafood scene with Chubby Fish, while Kulp has anchored Philadelphia’s modern American identity with High Street and Fork. Now, London returns to the Northeast to showcase the fan-favorite Lowcountry dishes that have made his 30-seat Charleston spot a national pilgrimage site.
What’s on the Menu?
The takeover will feature a dual-track menu designed by Chef London and High Street’s Executive Chef Christina McKeough. Diners can choose between a relaxed, snack-heavy evening or an immersive culinary journey.
A La Carte Highlights
For those looking to graze, the a la carte menu features some of the most famous bites in the South:
- The Caviar Sandwich: A high-low cult classic that has appeared on “Best Of” lists nationwide.
- Seafood Plateau: A massive, table-built celebration of the freshest dock-to-table finds.
- Fresh Tartare: Showcasing London’s “ingredient-first” philosophy.
The “Leave it to Us” Feast
For the full experience, a four-course curated feast will be available. This collaborative menu is designed to highlight the intersection of High Street’s artisan grain program and Chubby Fish’s eclectic seafood mastery.
A Heavyweight Guest
Chubby Fish isn’t just a local favorite; it is a global phenomenon. Recently named a 2026 South Carolina Chef Ambassador, James London has led Chubby Fish to a staggering list of accolades, including:
- James Beard Foundation: 2025 Nominee for Outstanding Restaurant and 2024 Finalist for Best Chef: Southeast.
- National Rankings: Top 10 rankings in Food & Wine and The New York Times’ list of the 50 Best Restaurants in America.
- Global Prestige: Inclusion in North America’s 50 Best Restaurants and Robb Report’s 100 Greatest Restaurants of the 21st Century.
How to SNAG a Seat
Given that Chubby Fish in Charleston famously does not take reservations (and often commands two-hour waits), this Philadelphia event is a rare chance to guarantee a seat.
- Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2026
- Seatings: 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM, and 8:30 PM
- Booking: Reservations are through OpenTable.
- The Fine Print: A $25 deposit per party is required to secure the spot, which will be applied directly to your final bill.
