NEW JERSEY – Get ready, Lawnside! Charley’s Cheesesteaks & Wings, a popular national chain known for its Philly-style sandwiches and flavorful wings, is officially coming to town. Construction is now underway at the former Church’s Chicken building on the White Horse Pike, signaling the imminent arrival of this fast-casual favorite to the Historic Lawnside Village Shopping Center.
Crews arrived on site this week (early May 2025) and wasted no time beginning the transformation. The former Church’s Chicken branding is being removed, and the building’s exterior is already sporting Charley’s signature gray and red color scheme. Inside, demolition work is paving the way for the build-out of the new Charley’s restaurant.
What is Charley’s Cheesesteaks & Wings?
For those unfamiliar, Charley’s has a long history rooted surprisingly close to its namesake sandwich’s home. Founded 39 years ago in Columbus, Ohio, the chain was started by an Ohio State University student who fell in love with Philadelphia cheesesteaks and wanted to share them nationwide (Source: Charley’s Philly Steaks corporate information). Today, Charley’s boasts over 600 locations across the country.
