A 1956 Shore Tradition at 588 W Rio Grande Avenue
For generations of families making their annual summer trek to the Jersey Shore, Urie’s Waterfront Restaurant at 588 W Rio Grande Ave, Wildwood, NJ 08260 is a mandatory stop. What started back in 1956 as a humble, seasonal paper-plate fish fry opened by three Philadelphia brothers—George, Charles, and Larry Urie—right off the George Redding Bridge has grown into a massive, beloved waterfront complex on the Wildwood Yacht Basin. Today, operating under the local Big Fish Restaurant Group, it continues to celebrate over 60 years of quality family seashore dining, offering a lively, tropical atmosphere and some of the best views of the marina on the island.
All-You-Can-Eat Snow Crabs and Perfectly Seasoned Seafood
When it comes to dining by the bay, Urie’s is an excellent choice for satisfying a serious seafood craving. The kitchen focuses on delivering fresh catches that let the natural flavor shine without being overseasoned.
The absolute showstopper for our table was the all-you-can-eat snow crab legs. The kitchen serves them up generously—bringing out 3 clusters at a time until you literally cannot eat anymore. Every cluster was fresh, sweet, and perfectly steamed.
If you have diners in your group who prefer turf over surf, the menu excels there, too. The ribs were amazing—slow-cooked, rich, and fall-off-the-bone tender—and the steak was juicy and cooked to the ideal temperature. To pair with the meal, the bar program offers a wide variety of cocktails that perfectly match the luau-style tropical energy of the dining rooms.
Marina Views, Cleanliness, and Outstanding Service
While the food is a major draw, the atmosphere and hospitality are what turn first-timers into regulars. The establishment is impeccably clean, and the view of the yacht basin is simply amazing. Whether you are catching the live music, watching the sunset over the water, or watching the boats dock, the lively energy makes for a memorable evening.
Handling an all-you-can-eat table requires attentive service, and our waiter, Peter, was an absolute standout. He was extremely kind, attentive, and always on point when he checked back on us to clear empty crab shells and keep the fresh clusters and drinks coming.
The Verdict
Urie’s Waterfront Restaurant delivers exactly what a classic Jersey Shore dining experience should be: endless snow crab legs, fantastic waterfront views, a lively marina atmosphere, and top-tier service. Between the historic Rio Grande Avenue location and the incredible hospitality from servers like Peter, this landmark remains one of Wildwood’s best family traditions.
