‘Soothing Jazz at a Comfortable Venue’
Do you like Jazz Clubs in Philadelphia? Well, then you would like the Chris’ Jazz Cafe. This little gem is hidden on Sansom Street between Broad Street and 15th Street and is nothing like it’s outside surroundings in this one city block.
When entering Chris’ Jazz Cafe, its warm appeal and soft lights make you feel very relaxed. As you are greeted by the hostess, because of the quaint setting, you start to get excited about listening to some good jazz.
I met a friend there Saturday night for some good conversation, some good food, and for some good jazz. I was pleasantly surprised with the braised beef short ribs that I had ordered. The meat was so tendered, that it fell apart in my mouth. My friend first had the pumpkin soup which had a spicy zing to it, which she loved. She then had the shrimp and grits meal, in which the shrimp was thick and plump. She stated that it was grilled to perfection and that her meal was delicious. After the meal, they had what looked to be an excellent desert tray with a nice selection, but we had to decline.
The experience at Chris’ Jazz Cafe was very good. Our server Jennifer was very attentive in our needs and checked in on us often. The music was very good, and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. And did I mentioned the food? Very good indeed. And one thing to keep in mind that I thought was very different from other Jazz Clubs in Philadelphia. If having a meal that will lead into a show, you can have the price of the show placed on your tab and pay for it when all done.
