Northern Liberties in Philadelphia – Philadelphia Neighborhoods

Northern Liberties is a formerly industrial neighborhood that is now an urban oasis for young professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, business folks and even the retired community that love the combination of City life and neighborhood love. The riverside community just north of Old City in Philadelphia has maintained a strong identity in its architectural details and boasts unobstructed views because of its low building heights. New construction here has taken on a modern and functional style that speaks to the residents and businesses. You will find many specialty shops, art galleries, BYOBs, and craft beer pubs that year-in and year-out are in “Best of Philly”.

Northern Liberties is linked to the rest of the city by the Market-Frankford Line, and if you listen closely, you can hear the roar of the elevated train as it transports commuters from Northern Liberties to Center City. Destinations include the Piazza, a social space modeled after an Italian square and Liberties Walk, a multi-block row of merchants and restaurants and Liberty Lands Park, a huge park that is owned and maintained by the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association.  Northern Liberties is the place to go for eclectic dining, weekend brunching, and unique shopping.   The neighborhood even has its own private Swim Club!
