Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia – Philadelphia Neighborhoods
Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia is a lovely tree-filled park in which the park is surrounded by a neighborhood of high rise residences, luxury apartments, popular restaurants, bars, and two hotels. The open-spaced park was planned by William Penn during the late 17th century. The park itself, which is the center piece of Rittenhouse Square, is a beautifully landscaped park because of the efforts of Friends of Rittenhouse Square.
The Rittenhouse Square park is a great destination for those that work and live in the area to enjoy their lunch outside. The park is a popular place to walk dogs, or for kids and or families to gather at. It’s also an area known for artists who would either display their work, sometimes having art festivals, or just use the scenery of the park within their paintings and photographs.
Rittenhouse Square’s function over the years has become the mainstream for the city’s special eateries and nightlife. During the months when the weather is nice, many of the establishments around Rittenhouse Square have seating along the sidewalk, allowing you to take in the Square’s beauty.
