Dead Sea Scrolls at the Franklin Institute
‘3,000 + Years of Fascinating Ancient Artifacts’
Are you intrigued and fascinated by ancient history and artifacts? The Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Ancient Times exhibit has arrived at the Franklin Institute.
Dead Sea Scrolls Atmosphere & Experience
This fascinating exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls shares with you the stories of the past from ancient times, to include remains of numerous ancient homes, cosmetics and jewelry, money, art and design, worshiping, architecture, and much more.
As a visitor, you will get a glimpse into the rituals and beliefs of ancient Israeli culture. You’ll see more than 600 items and artifacts such as the three-ton stone from the Western Wall in Jerusalem. You’ll experience the elaborate jewelery that is over 2,000 years old, such weapons like the arrowheads and slingstones, and pieces of pottery with ancient royal seals.
The biggest feature of this exhibit are the ancient scrolls that were discovered in 1947 by a shepherd who stumbled upon a hidden cave that was along the shore of the Dead Sea. These scrolls had not been seen for 2,000 years and have been called the most significant archaeological find of the last century.
Within this exhibit, there will be multimedia displays to help you complete the history behind these scrolls and other artifacts. You’ll also see the oldest known copy of the Hebrew Bible and four scrolls that have never been seen by the public.
The Dead Sea Scrolls is a must see exhibit at the Franklin Institute, so do not miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
