Tommy DiNic’s is a roast pork and roast beef shop located in the Reading Terminal Market. It’s the secret hot sandwich shop inside the terminal since 1980.

DiNic’s started out in a 3-story building in the 1920’s. Behind was a kitchen in which Tommy’s dad sold meat. One day someone asked if they would roast the meat, hence how the DiNic’s got into roast beef, in which they have done a super job at.
Since their roast beef sandwiches became a hit, they renovated their garage into a sandwich shop when Tommy was a kid. They then needed a bigger place and opened a butcher shop/sandwich shop on 10th and Oregon in south Philly which now has been a cleaners for the last 25 years or so.
Tommy DiNic’s has been in the Reading Terminal Market since 1980 and makes some of the best roast pork sandwiches in the Philadelphia. Some of their specialties besides the roast pork is the roast beef, Italian pulled pork, beef brisket and their own meatballs, which they grind the meat themselves.
Asked whether they would ever open another roast beef/pork shop in the city, Tommy said;
“We just follow the fundamentals and it’s working. We think we have an excellent product and we like to keep it personalized, from us to you.”
For those of you going to DiNic’s for the first time, don’t get disappointed when you see long lines of 15 plus people during most days of the week. It’s a small price to be had for a good sandwich. And if you can’t get a counter seat, there is main seating within the terminal 50 feet away.
Tip : Ask for a side of their horseradish to add into your sandwich, it adds a zing of flavor and you might like it.
