Founding Fathers Sports Bar and Grill – Sports Bars in Philadelphia

Founding Fathers Sports Bar & Grill in Philadelphia

‘Enjoying Good Beer, Food, and Sports with Friends!’

Founding Fathers Sports Bar and Grill, which had it’s Grand Opening on December 12, 2014, is an upscale sports bar and grill on South Street right at Graduate Hospital’s northern edge.

The name Founding Fathers is unique and refreshing considering that the Founding Fathers that we know of today are those individuals of the Thirteen British Colonies in North America who led the American Revolution against the authority of the British Crown and established the United States of America in the late 1700’s.

This establishment was started by 5 Founding Fathers themselves, to include partners Sam Brouwer, Jon Adler, Scott Aaffey, Mike Pollack and Ori Feibush.

The Founding Fathers Atmosphere & Experience

Founding Fathers resonates a different kind of sports bar and is well needed in this area of South Street. There isn’t a bad seat in the house with 13 big screen televisions allowing you to watch up to 8 different feeds simultaneously. The bar seats 16 while the restaurant area seats an additional 69.

For those beer enthusiasts, you can enjoy 19 different beers on tap, more than half of which are brewed right here in Philly or the surrounding area, to include 1 cider on tap. There is also an assortment of 30 + bottles if you can’t find a draft beer to tickle your fancy. You’ll even be able to enjoy a cocktail or some wine as well.

Interesting tidbit is that this establishment serves beer from Founding Fathers Brewing Company out of Long Lake, Minnesota, which is in no relationship to Founding Fathers in Philadelphia. The unique part of this is that Founding Fathers Brewing Company supports military families and donates half their proceeds those military families.

Bacon Cheeseburger at Founding Fathers Of course, drinking beer and watching sports, one would get hungry. Al Anderson, who has previously worked at Johnny Brenda’s and South Philly Taproom, is the big chief in the kitchen. Some of their more popular food items are: Buffalo Chicken sandwich, sliders, wings, nachos, homemade pizza, house made chili, their beer battered fried pickle spears and burgers.

I did have the pleasure of enjoying their bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger itself had juices leaking out as I devoured it, which was quite tasty for burger standards. And weeks after this article was written, I have returned to try their house chili. For those that know me, I love to cook and actually came in second in a chili cook-off contest. I really enjoyed Founding Fathers’s chili. Maybe a tad spicy for some, but it was solid in taste with the right amount of thickness and seasoning.

At Founding Fathers, not only will you find tasty food and a good beer selection, but very knowledgeable and helpful bartenders and servers with an enjoyable atmosphere for all.
