‘Halloween Party For A Good Cause!’
Tragedy strikes us in many ways. If you haven’t heard, a fire ripped through the iconic Bridget Foy’s restaurant and bar at the corner of 2nd and South Streets in the South Street Headhouse District Wednesday morning, October 25 starting around 1:15 am.
Bridget Foy’s has been like a “Cheers” too so many for 40 years since being opened in 1978 by John Foy. The current owner is John’s daughter, Bridget Foy, who has kept the restaurant as a cornerstone of South Street and ongoing holiday traditions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Also severely damaged next door was Doggie Style, where animal lovers bring their pets for grooming, food, supplies and accessories. Two dogs had died in the fire as well. There were also others displaced that were living in apartments above the restaurant.
It’s never easy for anyone to lose their job, especially those in the restaurant business and when the holidays are fast approaching. Our hearts go out to John, Bernadette, Bridget, Paul and the entire Foy family.
It was decided to keep this Saturday’s annual Bridget Foy’s Halloween party on the calendar and use it to support each other, celebrate the decades of memories and friendships and most importantly, raise money for the wonderful Bridget Foy’s staff!
Join us and many others for a special Halloween party fundraiser event for Bridget Foy’s staff this Saturday, October 28 from 7 pm to 10 pm.
It will be held at The Shambles at Headhouse Square in which they are asking for a $5 donation at the door (You can donate more).
The South Street Headhouse District has offered use of The Shambles! DJ Robert Drake will bring his retro music mix to the masses as Philadelphia Brewing Co. donates beer to add to the bar.
They’ll also have a 50/50 raffle and offer complimentary lite bites from neighboring businesses.
All the monies raised both at the door and via drink sales will go directly to the staff fund. Stay tuned for a link in which you can donate as well if you can’t make the fundraiser event.
