Khyber Pass Pub, located in Old City Philadelphia, was founded in 1970. You can say that this establishment has a little History of Philadelphia in it since it’s been around for 4 + decades and part of the bar itself is from 1876. If you don’t fully recognize the name, it has gone from Khyber to Khyber Pass Pub around November of 2010.

Khyber Pass Pub Experience & Atmosphere

It’s dark upon entering Khyber Pass Pub, but your eyes adjust soon after. There are two large rooms, the main bar that greets you when you walk-in, and an eating area in the second room that was added about 16 months ago. The eating area seats approximately 45-50 people, while the bar area can fit about 25 people.

As mentioned, the bar itself is a piece of Philadelphia History, which came from the Centennial World’s Fair of 1876. The bar is of dark wood and the ambiance is warm with many nick knacks on the wall and a jukebox in the center of the bar.

The pub always has rotating draft beers, offering 22 drafts that change on any given day of the week. You can always find some of the rarest beers in Philadelphia at Khyber Pass Pub. There is also a selection of 60+ bottles and cans of beers to choose from.

Looking for something to eat? The pub features Southern/Cajun favorites like fried chicken, po-boys, gumbos, and smoked briskets and pork butts. You also have your choice of the classic bar food like burgers, fries, wings, nachos, mac-n-cheese, and chili.

Looking to eat healthy? You will have your choice of Vegan Po’boys, Vegan pulled pork, vegan slaw and vegan dessert. For some, this could be heaven on earth.

Fair warning regarding the Khyber Pass Pub, that you will always get a hearty portion when it comes to food. That and an extensive beer selection with friendly service makes this pub in Old City a relaxing treat to enjoy during any time of the year.
