New Southern Cuisine Restaurant Opening in University City

PHILADELPHIA – I am thrilled to share that Amina, the renowned Southern Cuisine restaurant with Nigerian inspiration, is expanding into University City with an exciting new concept called Amina Ocean. This upscale seafood-focused restaurant, owned by Felicia Wilson and led by Chef/Partner Darryl Harmon, will be in 3.0 University Place’s ground-floor retail space.

With a sprawling area of 4,800 square feet, Amina Ocean promises a one-of-a-kind dining experience with its captivating “Southern Seafood Fusion” theme. The ambiance will transport guests to a harmonious blend of Tulum and Morocco, creating an atmosphere that is both inviting and exotic. A centerpiece of the restaurant’s design will be a raw bar integrated into a 20-seat bar, adding a touch of elegance and providing a visually stunning focal point. The venue will boast a total seating capacity of 118, including outdoor seating on the spacious sidewalk.

Whether it’s lunch, dinner, or a night out, Amina Ocean will cater to the culinary desires of University City residents and visitors. To add to the allure, the restaurant will regularly host live performances featuring sultry sounds, jazz, and blues, making it not just a place to satisfy your appetite but also to indulge your senses.

Felicia Wilson’s decision to choose the University City location was driven by the area’s promising economic growth and development. By bringing Amina Ocean to University City, she aims to attract both visitors and upscale businesses to the neighborhood, enhancing its reputation as a vibrant and thriving destination.

Scott Mazo, Founder & CEO of University Place Associates, shares Felicia’s excitement and believes that Amina Ocean’s presence as the anchor retail tenant will perfectly cater to the community’s desire for an upscale restaurant. UPA has plans to fill three or four additional retail spaces totaling approximately 15,000 square feet, and announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

As we eagerly anticipate Amina’s expansion and its positive impact on University City, I am confident that Amina Ocean will find great success, becoming a beloved and iconic establishment in the area.
