What to Do During an Earthquake

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency advises the following steps if you’re indoors during an earthquake:

  • Drop: Drop to the ground before the earthquake makes it difficult to stand.
  • Cover: Take cover under a sturdy desk, table, or other furniture. Hold on to it to shield against falling debris. If there’s no cover nearby, crouch near an interior wall and protect your head and neck.
  • Hold on: Hold onto your cover and stay there until the shaking stops.
