Phoebes BBQ – Tasty BBQ Sandwiches and More!

Front Cropped 600 x 300

‘Ribs With AN Attitude’

Don’t let the outside of this little eatery fool you, which is located on the 22nd hundred block of South Street. Phoebes BBQ has been a staple of the Graduate Hospital area serving Oklahoma style barbecue food since 1994.

Anastasio Botsaris, known as Stas, bought the business back in 2003 at the young age of 23. He has grown the business to not only delivering his fine foods from the South Street establishment, but that he now has a food truck that frequents local festivals, events and caters to those wishing to have a special party or gathering. Check out Phoebes BBQ Food Truck.

Phoebes BBQ Experience & Atmosphere

Phoebe’s BBQ is an open kitchen, with the serving process of the food to be an in and out process. You can either eat outside at the few tables they have, down the block in the little neighborhood square, or take it home or to your place of business.

The barbecue establishment offers a variety of generous platters, from rotisserie chicken to pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. Party platters are also available to order, which are perfect when entertaining guests during a football game or corporate client party. Their saying is, “Ribs with Attitude.”

Not only known for their pulled pork, beef and pork ribs, rotisserie wings and rotisserie chicken, Phoebes has their own specialty sides of barbecue beans and grandma’s macaroni and cheese. They also sell racks of ribs and will delivery in a 50 block radius, from University City, to South Philly, all the way to Front Street.

Phoebes BBQ Mad Love sandwich I had the pleasure of trying one of their famous sandwiches called “Mad Love.” It was a brisket sandwich topped with grandma’s macaroni and cheese, which can be served on their pulled pork as well. They can even top their sandwiches off with bbq beans.

The rib process itself will just make your mouth water. They will soak the ribs for three hours, clean them up, apply dry rub and then cook them over 5 ounces of hickory wood chips for 4 hours and 15 minutes at 230 degrees. Their brisket and pulled pork is cooked for 14 hours at 200 degrees.

At Phoebes BBQ, everything is homemade, all the way down to their barbecue sauces, collared greens, grandma’s mac and cheese and more. Check them out, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
