PYT Restaurant – A Great Burger Joint in Philadelphia

Northern Liberties in Philadelphia has become a hip place to live, eat, and enjoy in the City of Philadelphia. Well, you can’t get any more hip than with PYT, which is located in the Piazza in Northern Liberties.

PYT is diverse and creative in their burgers and adult milk shakes, in which this is their specialty. They have over 15 types of burgers, 9 regular adult shakes on their menu, plus 5 adult specialty shakes that change from time to time. The restaurant-bar-lounge is casual in both its appearance and mood setting. It reminds me of that basic joint in college, where you just grabbed something to eat and drink, while not hoping to be impressed by the looks of the establishment. What impressed me about PYT was that the bartender, wait staff, and owner were exceptionally friendly. Each person showed their individuality in appearance, while at the same time, making sure that you were comfortable and waited on promptly.

I see that PYT in Northern Liberties has received some bad reviews on Yelp regarding their food and service. Although I was there on a Tuesday for lunch, being that it was not busy, I found the wait staff to be very friendly and on top of things, as they waited on other customers. I had the cheesesteak pretzel roll burger and my friend had the PYT Burger. Speaking for myself, my food was excellent. A little messy, but that can’t be blamed on the restaurant when eating a cheesesteak, especially on a pretzel roll. How many good Philly cheesesteaks aren’t messy? It just comes with the territory. My friend enjoyed his burger, which he had no complaints when asked his opinion.

I will be going back soon, trying another burger during their busy time, and will update this post. I’m just not sure where all the negative comments are coming from. It might just be because some people like to complain online, because they can with no accountability. Just sayin….

PYT Restaurant & Bar Extras :

PYT in Northern Liberties has several places that one could hang out in. You have the main dinning area which is set up like a small diner, the patio outside with tables and chairs (they bring out couches at times), and the backroom. Backroom @ PYT.
Live music with a DJ on certain nights, which is held in the backroom @ PYT.
PYT is just not known for their burgers and adult shakes. They have beer-battered onion rings (which I have heard to be excellent), and three types of french fries. They also have soups, salad, sandwiches, and four types of desserts. Check out the menu yourself. PYT Menu
If you check into PYT through foursquare, PYT does have specials. Sometimes giving a free beer.
