A Rittenhouse Square Restaurant & Lounge
Rouge, located in the Rittenhouse Square area, over-looks the wonderful view of Rittenhouse Square itself. Opened in 1998 by husband and wife owners Maggie and Rob Wasserman, they originally set the standard for fine restaurants in Rittenhouse Square.
Rouge Atmosphere & Experience
Rouge is a people person’s delight, both inside and outside, weather permitting. Its sidewalk cafe is a great spot in Rittenhouse Square to enjoy some early evening cocktails with friends, especially if you are a people watcher.
Rouge is small and quaint, which is romantic and has different levels of food for any one’s appetite, giving you a nice selection of foods. Anything from oysters, muscles, garlic shrimp, shrimp and lobster spring rolls, herb roasted chicken, steak frites, wild king salmon, and the Rouge Burger.
This bistro is not only known for its ambiance and dazzling park-side dining, but for it’s food, especially the Rouge Burger. I truly enjoyed my burger, which was done on a challah roll, with caramelized onions, gruyere cheese, and pommes frites on the side. Some might say that the burger tastes salty, but that is because the gruyere cheese is sweet and slightly salty. I have also had one of their steak meals in the past, which I thought was very good.
With Rouge, you are in a nice location over-looking Rittenhouse Square, which is very pretty in any given season. It’s a good place for both an enjoyable meal or if you just want to meet friends, co-workers, or business partners for a casual drink. They have an extensive drink selection, from their speciality Rouge drinks, to a selection of 60 plus white and red wines, champagne, and 18 different bottles of beer. The end result is that Rouge is a place where you can have a good meal, with a good drink, along with good company, and enjoy nice scenery.
