SoWe Bar & Kitchen Atmosphere & Experience

SoWe’s name is short for Southwest Center City and is also an English name for pig/swine. You’ll find a silhouette of a Pig in the bar/waiting area that acts as their daily specials blackboard. At the restaurant, its owners and wait staff are committed to serving delicious food in a stylish setting adorned with a great vibe.

When walking into the establishment, you’ll be greeted by the handmade bar in front of you that was crafted from weathered oak and some small tables that align the left-side wall. The bar itself seats 14 people and approximately another 15 at the tables in the bar area.  Throughout the restaurant you’ll notice earth-toned walls and a wood floor.

Craig Steel, a mixoligist formerly of Amada, a.kitchen and The Dandelion, has been brought in to help create a fun and interesting bar experience. There are eight beers on top, seven that rotate at any given time. You’ll find a wide selection, anything from local to international beers. You’ll also find another dozen or so cans and bottles with wine and seasonal specialty drinks.

SoWe won’t be one of your standard neighborhood bars that just serves your basic drinks such as bourbon on the rocks. There will be no flavored vodkas and all juices will be fresh.

Feeling creative, try one of their cocktails such as the Knob Job, which has Knob Creek Rye Whiskey, fresh blackberries, lemon juice and raw syrup. Feel the need to warm up some, try their Sweet Smoke cocktail, with Laphroaig 10 year Scotch, Honey and Ginger.

Having a good drink selection, you must have good for that goes with it. Welcome Executive Chef Jennifer Choplin. Chef Choplin has worked at such restaurants as the White Dog Café, Paul’s Bistro and Sushi in Atlanta, helped open Bistrot La Minette as a Sous Chef, Resurrection, Watkins Drinkery and went on to run the kitchen at The Butcher and The Brewer before SoWe.

The dinning area seats approximately 20 people and has a wide selection of foods for most. Some of the favorites are the think burgers, the pork belly sandwich, Moroccan-Spiced Crispy Seitan, mussels, and the fish of the day. Love brunch, try their Kentucky Hot Brown. French toast with roasted turkey, tomato, bacon and caramelized onion Mornay.

SoWe bar and kitchen is inviting, relaxing and has that certain ambiance that makes it feel classy yet casual and not over-pretentious. A neighborhood bar that has more to offer than just the basics.
