The Dandelion Pub – Traditional British Fare

The Dandelion Pub in Rittenhouse Square

‘A Stephen Starr Traditional British Pub’

The Dandelion Pub is a British styled restaurant that opened on December 31st, 2010 in Rittenhouse Square. London’s culinary revolution in Philadelphia.

The Dandelion Pub Experience & Atmosphere

Looking like an old vintage home, this two-level, 135-seat restaurant, has a diverse ambiance to it. There are cozy rooms that were furnished with artwork, furniture and decorative pieces found during numerous trips to England. Not only are the bar settings intimate bar, but a fireplace in one of the rooms adding a home-styled comfort during those cool winter months.

The unique menu selection offers seasonal British foods, comfort foods at the bar, and an interesting specialty drink menu. The British fare classics consist of the Lamb Shepherd’s Pie, Beer-Battered Fish and Chips, and Bangers and Mash. Other interesting British styled foods are the Rabbit Pie, Macaroni and Cheese, Grilled Salmon Fillet, the Traditional Roast Chicken, and much more.

Interested in how the British drink their beers – Cask Beer. Cask conditioned ale is beer that is brewed from traditional ingredients and matured in the cask from which it is served. The beer is then pulled to your glass with a hand pump. This means that it is fresh and unfiltered and therefore has a unique flavor.

The pub has a large bar downstairs and a smaller bar upstairs. There are 6 handles available. Three English Ales, two British Ales, and one local seasonal ale that rotates. There are 25+ bottled beers, 6+ cans of beer, and 4 types of cider beers. Looking for something different. There are 7 types of specialty drinks, 18 wines by the glass, and 100+ bottles of wine to choose from.

Stop by The Dandelion for a Sunday feast of traditional family-style roast, which is also offered on Bank Holidays. This feast consists of a roast rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding or roast free-range chicken served with bacon rolls.

Want to feel like royalty. An afternoon tea menu will feature English teas served in imported Brown Betty pots.  To go along with your tea is a selection of cakes, scones and biscuits served on traditional tiered serving trays.

So tickle your fancy at the Dandelion Pub in Rittenhouse Square, everything British.
