The Flying Monkey at the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia
Who doesn’t love a good pastry, right? How about pastries and deserts made from scratch. You can get this at the Flying Monkey, which is a bakery located in the Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia.
The Flying Monkey Experience
The Flying Monkey, which was an existing bakery, was bought by Elizabeth Halen thirteen months ago and has turned it into Philadelphia’s own Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, minus all of the chocolate goodies. I say this because all of her pastries are not only homemade and delicious, but everything is made from scratch. And when I say everything is homemade on location, even their marshmallows.
The Flying Monkey is very home style. Everything from cakes, pies, brownies, whoopie pies, cupcakes, to building your own personalized cake for special events.
The bakery is known for their whoopie pies, pumpkin pies, and s’mores. I had such a tough choice deciding on what I should try, I ended up trying the oatmeal caramel whoopie pie and the raspberry jam square. One phrase said it all, “oh my god.” Yes, it was heavenly, especially the raspberry jam square since raspberries are my favorite.
The Flying Monkey in the Reading Terminal Market is one place that you should try, even if you aren’t at the market itself. A great place to pick up those goodies for that holiday meal or special event. You can even have Elizabeth and her team of bakers prepare large orders, but they do have a few ordering tips. click here
