The Grey Lodge in Northeast Philadelphia

‘One of Philadelphia’s Best Bars’

When you live in the Northeast section of our beautiful city of Philadelphia, you find that there is no shortage of places to grab a drink. However, in many cases, they all tend to offer the same experience, consisting of loud music, the usual light beer, and typical bar food. That’s where the Grey Lodge comes in.

The Grey Lodge sets itself apart from the other neighborhood bars and they do it well. They offer the best local selection of craft beer in the area. During any given time, you’ll find 25 different craft beers on tap, meaning that whether you’re a beer aficionado or a rookie to the craft beer game, the Grey Lodge is the place to be. I head over at least once every couple weeks. This past weekend I focused on their “Troegs Dream Weaver Wheat” and “Sly Fox Seamus Irish Red.” Not only were they great beers, but it was nice to take a break from the usual domestic bottles (they serve all of them as well for those who want to stick to their comfort zone).

Don’t see the world through beer colored glasses? Want to pair your favorite draft with a good bite? That’s not a problem. The kitchen at the Grey Lodge bolsters an extensive food menu. They have the usual bar fare like cheese steaks and fries (their fries were named “Best of Philly!”) but go above and beyond with their fish and chips, their mussels, and roast pork sandwiches. And where else are you going to find vegan nachos? No matter what your tastes are, Grey Lodge has you covered.

The Grey Lodge is a comfortable atmosphere with plenty of seating, and they do it over two floors. Both floors offer a different atmosphere, letting you choose what kind of night you want to have. If you’re bringing a date then you may want to sit upstairs, where there’s more of an intimate feel. However, if you want to watch the game and play some darts then stay downstairs and rub elbows with all the local personalities.

The Grey Lodge supplies all the charm and fun of a downtown Philadelphia bar in a much more convenient location for folks from the Northeast or the suburbs. Whether you stop in for happy hour during the week or decide to make a long night of it this weekend, I suggest you check it out.
