The Philly Slide to Benefit Little Kids Rock

‘It’s All About Giving Back – Supporting a Good Cause – Little Kids Rock’

Some of you might have heard of the “Electric Slide” that took off around 2002. Now welcome the “Philly Slide”, created right here in the City of Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.

The “Philly Slide” is a song to boost morale and pride for Philadelphians; and is a tribute to Philadelphia. This song is to help support Little Kids Rock, which is a national nonprofit that helps change and diversify children’s lives by bringing back and improving music education to those in public schools that have been deprived of such a special livelihood regarding music.

The Philly Slide Experience & Atmosphere

Joe Callari, who is one of the founders of Philly Records, had an idea of doing a dance just for Philly. He then consulted with the other two founders, Tony Luke Jr of Tony Lukes and John Moser of MBB Productions. They thought of ideas such as the Philly Shuffle and the Philly Dance, until they came up with the idea of the “Philly Slide”.

See, Philly Records is a label that wants to help promote local Philly talent, those that believe in music, not so worried about the money, and just want to help out. Tony Luke believes that every child deserves music education, just as Little Kids Rock does, which is why this nonprofit is so close to Tony’s heart. Tony went on to say;

“I believe that the arts are as important and in some ways, more important than arithmetic and reading. As a musician, I believe in what Little Kids Rock stands for and I just love doing things for Philadelphia, which is the greatest city around.”

There are many people behind the “Philly Slide”, all of which have donated their time and energy for this worthy cause. Keep in mind, the song is a free download with the option to donate, in which all proceeds would go to Little Kids Rock.

The voice behind the Philly Slide song is the lovely Jaye Moore who put Philly Records in touch with special talented choreographer Bernadette Burnette, who created and taught Philadelphia’s new line dance called The Philly Slide. The song was written by Tony Luke and Joe Callari, produced by Joe Callari for Philly Records, recorded by Whey Cooler at da Studio, and mixed by Craig White.

Other mentions behind the scenes, the Cintron Band, with lead singer Edgardo A. Cintron and a few other members of the band who sang back up vocals while playing the horns.

As mentioned, a lot of time and energy has gone into the production of the “Philly Slide”. When speaking to Jaye, she told us;

“It’s been an awesome experience, helping to promote this for a good cause.”

And we couldn’t agree more with Jaye and everyone else involved in this worthy cause. Which is why we want to contribute and need your help.
