The Piazza at Schmidt’s is located in Northern Liberties and brings many events and activities throughout the year. It can’t be seen from the street, so you need to check it out for yourself.
The Piazza at Schmidt’s Experience & Atmosphere
The Piazza is a European style square with a beautifully landscaped 80,000 square foot Italian-styled courtyard that features a 400+ square-foot Daktoniks LED screen. It includes a 40 by 20 foot permanent stage for concerts and other events.
Designed and named after Rome’s famous piazzas, The Piazza at Schmidt’s is surrounded by several renovated industrial buildings that have been converted into commercial space, apartments, offices, a fitness facility, restaurants, art galleries, shops, a real estate office; RE/MAX Access, and much more.
It opened on May 15, 2009 and hosts an array of free festivals, concerts, dance performances, movie nights and live broadcasts of sporting events. If there isn’t a sporting event on, catch some music videos or movies on the big screen. A type of screen filled with every sports enthusiast or movie goer’s envy.
Dinning and Shopping
Are you a foodie or like to bar hop. There are several restaurants that directly surround The Piazza. They include: Darling’s Diner, a 50’s style diner opened 24-hours; King’s Oak, an American grill and sports bar; Gunner’s Run, a pub serving American food and craft beers; and P.Y.T., a burger joint serving wild & fun hamburgers and specialty adult-shakes.
Want to do some shopping or just browse. There are approximately 35 artisans and boutiques that also surround The Piazza. Such places include: Millesime, a fashion and home design boutique; Samantha’s, the Trendiest Ladies Boutique; The Toothless Cat Gallery, a gallery that serves to expose and collect underground artists’ work from the Philadelphia area and beyond; Jinxed, stocking the best art & design based shirts, books, vinyl toys and more; and Spa East, providing you with the personalized beauty services such as soothing massages or manicures.

Truly a Community at The Piazza
The Piazza brings Northern Liberties together with the rest of the city. It’s a venue, a destination, and truly a community. A great place to gather with friends and family, to people watch, to relax outside with seating throughout the plazza and or at the restaurants, or to attend the many events and festivals year round.
You get to see interesting and exciting things such as a half-pipe built out of snow for snowboarders which was during New Found Glory’s concert during the Winter Jam. Movie nights are enjoyable, and the Summer Block Party concerts sponsored by Radio 104.5, now in its thrid year.
