‘Relaxing and Enjoying Lunch Outdoors’

A unique space across from the 30th Street Station in University City, The Porch, was once a congested parking lane of 34 parallel parking spaces. It’s now more than just a place to have lunch and relax.

There is abundant seating, vibrant seasonal plantings, Philly food trucks, ongoing performances such as free concerts, fitness classes and a variety of special events such as The Porch Beer Garden and miniature golf.

The University City District, instead of using large capital investments, has created a simple open area with economical experimental steps along the way.

UCD envisions a capital intensive future phase of improvement with elements such as food kiosks, denser plantings, functional art, and a permanent landscaped buffer from Market Street.
