Who loves fall in Philadelphia! Halloween kicks this weekend off with Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary. Oktoberfest is in full swing and the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0. Who is excited!

  • Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary ~ September 21 to November 10 ~ There are 6 scary attractions inside the cell blocks of Eastern State Penitentiary which should put a little fear in your shoes. Do you dare? ~ Terror Behind the Walls ~
  • Design Challenge at Moore College ~ September 21 ~ From 6 pm to 8 pm. The event welcomes the region’s emerging artists and designers at the forefront of Philadelphia’s urban design and green movements to Moore. Four designers have been chosen to construct Parklets in the 1900 block of Race Street in front of the College. Location – Moore College of Art & Design at 20th St & the Parkway. ~ Design Challenge ~
  • Shakespeare in the World comes to the Barnes Foundation ~ September 21, October 19, November 16 & December 21 ~ From 6:30 pm to 8 pm, the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre partner with the Barnes Foundation with a critical discussion around Shakespeare with guest speakers, live performances and plenty of audience participation. Tickets are $30 General Admission & $20 members and can be reserved online or via phone at (866) 849-7056. ~ Barnes Foundation ~
  • Art After 5 ~ September 21 ~ Free with admission. Denise King – Hailing from West Philadelphia, King sings pop and jazz standards with touches of the blues, soul, and gospel in a voice steeped in a sophisticated style.  Held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Great Stair Hall, starting at 5 pm. ~ Art After 5 ~
  • Philadelphia Phillies ~ September 21 to 23 ~ A three game series against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. Cool Tip! Free face painting before every Sunday home game by Paint Your Face. Inside McFadden’s Ball Park from 10:30 am until the game starts. Anyone can stop by for a free Phillie’s P or even have the Phanatic painted on their cheek! ~ Phillies Tickets ~
  • PHS Fall Garden Festival ~ September 22 ~ Free. From 9 am to 5 pm at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Enjoy music, food, plants, workshops, gardening tips, children’s activities and more. Young Rembrandts will be having free drawing lessons for kids. ~ PHS Fall Garden Festival ~
  • Oktoberfest Street Festival ~  September 22 ~ From 12 pm to close. Located on Frankford Ave, between Girard & Shakamaxon. Fun for the whole family with face painters, balloon artists, caricature artists, pony rides, German beer tents with live music, great German food, and great German beer. ~ Oktoberfest Street Festival ~
  • Grand Re-Opening & Ribbon Cutting at the Philadelphia History Museum ~ September 22 & 23 ~ Come celebrate the re-opening of the museum. Ribbon Cutting is at 11 am on Saturday the 22nd. Event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, entertainment and tours of the galleries.   • Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~ September 22 & 26 ~ Starts at 10 am every Wed & Sat – Learn the story behind cheese steaks, hoagies, pretzels and other Philly food favorites, and the 114-year history of the vibrant Reading Terminal Market where they’re sold during this 75-minute, food-writer-led walking tour.~ Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~
  • Frankford Hall Presents Oktoberfest ~ Now to September 23 ~ Daily events for the rest of September. Call for the daily events. ~ Frankford Hall ~
  • Celebrate Constitution Week at the National Constitution Center ~ Now to September 23 ~ Daily events surrounding the Constitution of the United States 225th Anniversary.   • Philadelphia Eagles Game 3 ~ September 23 ~ Aren’t going to Arizona to watch the the Eagles game when they play the Arizona Cardinals at 4pm. Then head on over to XFinityLive, Philadelphia’s main sports entertainment complex to watch the game.  ~ Info about XFinity Live ~

  • Free Play on the Parkway ~ Now until September 30; except Mondays ~ Play In between recognizes the need for free play in children’s education. Come check out what it’s all about. ~Free Play on the Parkway ~
  • Open Air on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway ~ September 20 to October 16 ~  How awesome is this! How about interactive spotlights making light patterns by using your voice messages and GPS location. Check it out.  ~ Open Air Light exhibit ~
  • Ghost Tour of Philadelphia ~ Now until November 10 ~ This company has 3 main types of Ghost tours to choose from. Either way, you are bound to be spooked. Keep in mind that these tours run all year round, but are mostly concentrated around Halloween, so you need to check their calendar of events for dates. ~ The Ghost Tour of Philadelphia ~
  • Barnes Foundation ~ Now Open ~  The new building finally opened May 19th. You get to explore the world’s largest collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern paintings–including tons of works by Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, van Gogh and Renoir—inside this new 12,000 square-foot gallery. ~ Barnes Foundation ~
  • Dead Sea Scrolls ~ Now until October 14 ~ The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit arrives at The Franklin Institute. Get a glimpse of ancient Israeli culture with more than 600 artifacts and 20 of the rarest scroll. ~ Dead Sea Scrolls ~
  • Maya 2012 – Lords of Time Exhibit at Penn’s Museum ~ Now until January 13, 2013 ~ Learn more about that superstition and the culture behind the Mayan prophecy. This exhibit will showcase the fascinating and mysterious Mayan people.~ Maya 2012 Exhibit ~
  • The Swedish American Line Exhibition ~ Now until February 24 ~ From the early days as a passenger fleet for immigrants to its lavish cruises, visitors will get a look into the fleet’s history, exquisite style and personal stories and anecdotes from former passengers.   • Philadelphia City Hall ~ Like Architecture? Philadelphia History? They give tours of the Philadelphia City Hall. If you go up high enough, you get to see the whole city. ~ Philadelphia City Hall~
  • Philadelphia Museum of Art – So many things that surround this museum. The “Rocky” Steps or the “Rocky” statue. A great view down Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Behind the museum, you can view Boat House Row and a few other things. ~ Philadelphia Museum of Art~

  • “Stoker’s Dracula” is coming to Elfreth’s Alley ~ October 13 ~ The count is coming… Come see the bloodthirsty fiend of legend as he stalks through America’s longest lived-on street, Elfreth’s Alley.   • Ghost Hunting 101 at Elfreth’s Alley ~ October 20 ~ Starts at 8 pm. Join the Elfreth’s Alley Museum and the Oakford Paranormal Society for a special investigation of America’s longest lived on street.
