What a packed weekend of things to do in Philadelphia, hence why we are posting this a day earlier than usual.

Key your eye on such exciting events as Philly Beer Week, the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship, also known as the Philly Bike Race or the Manayunk Bike Race, and much more.

Don’t forget that Fairmount Restaurant Week ends this Sunday, June 3rd and that the first main event of Philly Beer Week starts at 6:30 am tomorrow, the Hammer of Glory Relay.

Things To Do In Philadelphia this Weekend & Week of  ~ June 1 – 7

  • Philly Beer Week ~ June 1 – 10 ~ This years 10-day of events is the fifth annual celebration of the city’s beer culture that will allow beer lovers to go on tours of some of the best pubs and breweries and will feature events ranging from beer tastings, beer-pairing dinners, lectures, and other activities and specials. ~ Philly Beer Week ~ ~ Our Guide to Philly Beer Week ~
  • First Fridays ~ June 1 ~ Your chance to visit Art Galleries throughout Old City after normal hours. You will be able to talk to the art directors and possibly some of Philadelphia’s local artists. This also takes place as First Saturdays with select Art Galleries extending out to Fishtown. ~ First Fridays ~
  • Art After 5 ~ June 1 ~ An Evening of Dance with Brenda Dixon Gottschild, Joan Myers Brown, and Philadanco. Held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Great Stair Hall, starting at 5 pm. ~ Art After 5 ~
  • Itsav Glamour’s 1st Fashion Show ~ June 1 ~ From 11:00 pm to 3:30 am. $20 at door. Event held at Recess Lounge on 125 South 2nd St. Come see some new fashions. Also, contest starting June 3rd.   • 2nd Annual Battleship Olympia Tattoo Convention ~ June 1 – 3 ~ Come down to the Philadelphia Seaport Museum and get an authentic acetate tattoo on a historical warship. Tattoo artists will be doing assembly line acetate stencils in the same fashion they were done in the 1900-1970’s. Don’t miss it! ~ Battleship Olympia ~
  • Philadelphia Phillies ~ June 1 – 3 ~ Series against the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park. Cool Tip! Free face painting before every Sunday home game? Inside McFadden’s Ball Park from 10:30 am until the game starts. Anyone can stop by for a free Phillie’s P or even have the Phanatic painted on their cheek! ~ Phillies Tickets ~
  • Rittenhouse Square Fine Art Show ~ June 1 – 3 ~ Fri to Sat from 11 am to 7 pm & up until 5 pm on Sunday. (S. 18th Street & Walnut St)  Outdoor art show of only original artwork.   • Fairmount Restaurant Week ~ May 25 to June 3 ~ Heard of Philadelphia Restaurant Week? Check out the 1st ever Fairmount Restaurant Week.   • Free Play on the Parkway ~ June 1 – September 30; except Mondays ~ Play In between recognizes the need for free play in children’s education. Come check out what it’s all about. ~ Free Play on the Parkway ~
  • The Art of Begonias ~ May 14 – June 1 ~ Are you a hardcore plant nerd? The begonia exhibition at PHS’s (Pennsylvania Horticultural Society) McLean Library will have free lectures & events. ~ The Art of Begonias ~
  • 111th Annual Student Exhibition ~ May 11 – June 3 ~ Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, America’s first school of fine arts and museum, previews the works of third- and fourth-year art students. ~ PAFA’s Student Exhibition ~
  • Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~ June 2 & 6 ~ Starts at 10 am every Wed & Sat – Learn the story behind cheese steaks, hoagies, pretzels and other Philly food favorites, and the 114-year history of the vibrant Reading Terminal Market where they’re sold during this 75-minute, food-writer-led walking tour.~ Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~
  • Philadelphia International Cycling Championship ~ June 3 ~ Watch some of the most competitive cyclists from the World while they race through the beautiful streets of Philadelphia, starting at Benjamin Franklin Parkway, cycling down Kelly Drive, up the feared Manayunk Wall, through Farimount Park, before they head back to the finish line on the Parkway. ~ Philadelphia Bike Race
  • Philadelphia Irish Festival ~ June 3 ~ 1 pm to 7 pm at Penn’s Landing, on Columbus Boulevard at Chestnut St. Live bands, dance squads, food, and fun. ~ 2012 Philadelphia Irish Festival ~
  • Willow Grove 1st Annual Craft Beer Festival ~ June 3 ~ Noon to 5 pm at the Plaza in Willow Grove, PA. The festival brings together more than 40 breweries and 100+ beers. ~ Willow Grove Beer Fest ~
  • Kimmel Center ~ June 4 ~ Free show usually held on Saturday night, but this week, on Monday night. “Live from the Plaza Stage”, Performance and Dialogue: Creating Sacred Music  –   Will have a discussion of the creative process as it relates to developing sacred music used in worship or personal spiritual devotions.  ~ Free show at the Kimmel Center in Philly ~
  • With Love Beer Garden ~ June 4 to 8 ~ Each day at the ‘With Love Beer Garden’, a different local brewer will be featured with a selection of amazing craft beers and food to go with your beer. Held at the Four Seasons outdoor Courtyard. (more info to follow)
  • Center City Sips ~ June 6 ~ Every Wednesday until August 29th. Enjoy discounts on beer, wine, cocktails, and food from 88 bars and restaurants in Center City.  ~ City Sips

  • The Buddy Holly Story ~ Now to July 15 ~ Buddy paved the way for rock & roll with 50′s favorites such as “Peggy Sue”, “That’ll Be the Day”, and more. See his story at Walnut Street Theatre. ~ Walnut Street Theatre ~
  • Barnes Foundation ~ Now Open ~  The new building finally opened May 19th. You get to explore the world’s largest collection of Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern paintings–including tons of works by Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, van Gogh and Renoir—inside this new 12,000 square-foot gallery. ~ Barnes Foundation ~
  • Bruce Springsteen ~ Feb. 17 – Sept. 3 ~ Springsteen comes to the National Constitution Center. The first exhibit of Bruce Springsteen to ever be seen outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You will have the opportunity to view more than 150 artifacts, videos of his first successful audition, and much more. ~ Bruce Springsteen exhibit~
  • Dead Sea Scrolls ~May 12 – October 14 ~ The Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit arrives at The Franklin Institute. Get a glimpse of ancient Israeli culture with more than 600 artifacts and 20 of the rarest scroll. ~ Dead Sea Scrolls ~

Visiting Philadelphia

  • Liberty Bell – Symbol of American Independence – If you are visiting Philadelphia, this is one site that must be seen. ~ Liberty Bell~
  • Elfreth’s Alley ~ Get to walk down a street with 300 years of history. Elfreth’s Alley is one of the oldest continuously inhabited residential streets in America. ~ Elfreth’s Alley ~
  • Philadelphia City Hall ~ Like Architecture? Philadelphia History? They give tours of the Philadelphia City Hall. If you go up high enough, you get to see the whole city. ~ Philadelphia City Hall~
  • Philadelphia Museum of Art – So many things that surround this museum. The “Rocky” Steps or the “Rocky” statue. A great view down Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Behind the museum, you can view Boat House Row and a few other things. ~ Philadelphia Museum of Art~
  • Betsy Ross House – Did Betsy Ross actually make the American Flag? Learn about some of Philadelphia’s earliest history. ~ Betsy Ross House~
  • Independence Hall – This is where the Declaration of Independence was adopted and where the Constitution of the United States was debated, drafted and signed. ~ Independence Hall~
  • National Constitution Center – If anything, you must see the ‘We the People’ exhibit. There are other timely exhibits. ~ National Constitution Center ~
  • Philadelphia Parks – Such as Fairmount Park or even Franklin Square for the kids or relaxing.

  • 2012 Great Chefs Event ~ June 12 ~  6 pm to 9 pm. Will feature a stellar lineup of chefs from all over the world, serving up their fine fare for the benefit of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and the Vetri Foundation for Children. The event will be held at Urban Outfitters Headquarters in The Navy Yard.
  • 4th of July events in Philadelphia – June 25 – July 4th – Do we have 10 days of fun activities and events for you, thanks to Wawa Welcome America and the city of Philadelphia. ~ 4th of July in Philadelphia & events ~
  • Labor Day Weekend in Philly ~ September 1 & 2 ~ The “Budweiser Made in America” concert will have Jay-Z to Headline the Musical Festival.  The two day festival will feature 30 acts on three stages. (more info to come)
