The date is set: Thursday, April 23, 2026. The goal is ambitious: support over 2,000 Philadelphians living with or at high risk of HIV. The method is delicious: over 40 of the region’s best restaurants donating a portion of their proceeds to Action Wellness.
However, we also know how life works. Maybe you have a late shift, maybe the restaurant you wanted is fully booked, or maybe you’re simply not a “night out” person. Does that mean you’re left out of the 36th Annual Dining Out for Life®? Absolutely not.
Action Wellness has expanded the ways you can get involved this year, ensuring that everyone in the Delaware Valley can contribute to this lifesaving mission. Here is your guide to making an impact, even if you don’t have a dinner reservation.
1. Become a “Community Champion”
New for 2026, Action Wellness is looking for Community Champions. This role is perfect for the “natural organizer” in the friend group or office. A Community Champion doesn’t just eat; they advocate. You can:
- Organize a Table: Round up 10 friends or coworkers and take over a section of a participating restaurant.
- Collect in Advance: Start a collection at your workplace or social club in the weeks leading up to April 23.
- Peer-to-Peer Fundraising: Sign up on the Dining Out for Life website to create your own personalized fundraising page. Share your link on social media and explain why the mission of Action Wellness matters to you.
2. The “Early Bird” Strategy (Breakfast, Lunch, and Brunch)
While “Dining Out for Life” often brings to mind fancy dinners and cocktails, many participating restaurants are active throughout the day. If you can’t make it to a 7:00 PM reservation at Barclay Prime, consider these alternatives:
- Lunch Meetings: Many spots like The Love or P.J. Clarke’s participate during their lunch service. Move your business meeting to a participating location and turn your “power lunch” into a “purpose lunch.”
- Morning Support: Check the official list for cafes and spots like Gilda that may offer opportunities to support the cause with your morning coffee and pastry.
- The Main Line & Suburbs: If you live outside the city, remember that locations like Spasso Italian Grill in Media or Spring Mill Café in Conshohocken are part of the team. You don’t have to commute to Center City to make a difference.
3. The “Direct Impact” Donation
If you’re staying in on April 23, you can still be a hero for Action Wellness. The organization provides services regardless of a client’s ability to pay, and direct donations are the most efficient way to fund these programs.
- Online: Visit diningoutforlife.com/Philadelphia to make a one-time or recurring gift.
- By Phone: Call 215-981-3367 to speak with the development team.
- By Mail: Send a check to Action Wellness at 1216 Arch Street, 6th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
Where Does the Money Go?
It’s important to know exactly what your contribution supports. Action Wellness is a trauma-informed organization. This means your donation helps fund:
- Medical Case Management: Helping clients navigate complex healthcare systems.
- Supportive Housing: Ensuring that a diagnosis doesn’t lead to homelessness.
- Perinatal Care: Supporting mothers and infants to prevent mother-to-child transmission.
- The Buddy Program: Providing emotional support and companionship to those who feel isolated by their status.
Whether you are sliding into the group chat to book a table at Borromini or sending a check from your living room, you are part of the solution. On April 23, let’s show the world that Philadelphia is a city that cares.
