The History & Experience of The Jersey Boys Musical
The Jersey Boys, first debuting on Broadway in 2005, is a musical story based on a Rock ‘n Roll group of how four blue-collar kids became one of the greatest successes in pop music history, known as the Four Seasons. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide—all before they were 30!
The band consisted of four members; Frankie Valli, Tommy DeVito, Bob Gaudio, and Nick Massi. The band is known for hit songs such as “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Rag Doll,” “Oh, What a Night” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
The musical shares the story of the rock band when it was originally formed, how they became very popular, and the eventual break-up of the original band, the Four Seasons. The musical is separated into four seasons, each being narrated by the cast who plays each character.
The final scene shows the 1990 induction of the Four Seasons into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which reunites the original four members live. Each member takes a moment on stage to address the audience, explaining their role with the band and what they did after the band broke up.
The Jersey Boys at the Forrest Theater in Philadelphia, is electric and vibrant. Over the years, this musical has won many awards such as the Tony Awards and Grammy Awards in 2005. Because of the language used in the musical, it might be recommended that those children under 12 not attend.
