The Philadelphia Phillies 2013 Season – Get Philly Proud

Philadelphia Phillies 2013-14 Season

‘A New Year and a New Phillies Season!’

Have you been disappointed over the years? Wasn’t happy with the Eagles, Sixers and now the Flyers.

We know that Philadelphia sports fans are extremely passionate and hard on their teams. Can this year be any different for the Philadelphia Phillies!

Who is excited about the Phillies season and tired of the talk about “old age”, that the Phillies are aging. What positives do you see compared to the last several years.

How about we start with the fact that Ryan Howard and Chase Utley are healthy again and both had very good spring training camps. That the Phillies didn’t improve until halfway through the second part of the season after Utley and Howard had been back for a month.

Utley did get off to a slow start in spring training, but got much better towards the end. Howard left no doubts that he could be better than he has in recent years. What shadowed the two players was how well Domonic Brown did. How many of you wanted him out of Philadelphia. After the batting coach changed up his grip and batting stance, Brown had a fantastic spring. How many of you think he can keep this going during the regular season.

With the addition Michael Young playing at third base, this should especially help more in the hitting department and garner better results than it did with the platooning of several players from last year. Let’s just hope Young can bring us some more power that he had shown with the Texas Rangers.

Onto the Phillies pitchers. Cole Hamels had a very good spring and seems to get better and better each year. He certainly will be the ace of the Phillies pitching staff, especially with the aging of Roy Halladay. Let’s just hope Halladay and Lee can get back on track and give us a good season this year.

The end result is that the Philadelphia Phillies are getting older. But with a healthy Utley and Howard, if Brown can keep it going and a good pitching performance from the Phillies pitching staff, we like the chances of the Phillies in 2013.  We feel that the Phillies will go 93-69. Will this be good enough to win the National League East or a wild card spot. What are your thoughts? Want to know more on how all of the Phillies’ players did during Spring Training.
