The Philadelphia Phillies – Phillies Fans Invade Washington

“The Best Traveling Fans in Baseball”

Hey Philadelphia Phillies fans, Washington doesn’t want you to show up at their home games!!!

The Washington National’s fans are tired of seeing more Philadelphia Phillies fans than their own at Nationals Park. At least the Phillies fans are helping to fill up the stadium, right? Just imagine, at one of last year’s games between the Phillies and the Nationals, the announced attendance was 44,685, which was a sellout crowd and the most ever for a game at Nationals Park. It’s get better.

Since the National’s fans and management are getting tired of this, they are proclaiming, “Take Back the Park” campaign. The Nationals plan to keep the Phillies fans from taking over their ballpark during the first series in Washington. You ask, how can they do this?

The Nationals just placed on sale this past Friday their single-game tickets for the May 4-6 three-game set at Nationals Park. These tickets for the next month will only be sold to people with credit cards tied to an address in Maryland, Washington, or Virginia. What’s next, not allow those with Pennsylvania and New Jersey license plates into D.C. for tailgating?

Phillies Fans Invade Washington NationalsThe overall picture is that the Washington Nationals are upset by the Phillies fans taking over their own home per se and because of the Phillies  boasting a see of Red at games and loud Phillies chants for their team. The Nats are also tired of the self-indulgent cheers and gloating about Citizens Bank Park South. Not only from the Phillies fans, but from some of the Philadelphia writers such as this article by the 700 Level.

It has gotten so bad, that the visits by Phillies fans have brought e-mails and phone calls from D.C. fans who say they now avoid going to Nationals games when the Phillies are in town. You have to be kidding. Hey Phillies fans, remember when we would be overrun by Mets fans back in the day. If I can remember correctly, this usually happened when the Phillies had subpar teams.

Hey Nationals fans, put a winning team on the field and just maybe you will have more fans than the visiting team. But keep in mind, the Philadelphia Phillies fans are some of the best traveled fans in baseball and the most passionate sports fans in the City of Philadelphia. This just doesn’t happen in D.C. and because Washington happens to be closest. Ask the Pirates, Marlins, Braves, and even the West Coast teams such as the Padres, Dodgers, and others.

I do know this, I can’t wait until the start of the Philadelphia Phillies season and keeping Nationals Park. See what is being said about the Phillies fans on their Facebook fan page. Washington Nationals fan page
