Irish Pub in Philadelphia – Irish Bars in Philadelphia

The Irish Pub on 20th & Walnut Street

The Irish Pub in Philadelphia, which is located on 20th and Walnut Street, opened in 1983. The owners, Richard and Cathy Burke, actually have three locations, the first of which they bought in 1972 located in Atlantic City. They then bought a place that they turned into Irish Pub number two in 1980 located on 1123 Walnut Street, 9 blocks from this Irish Pub.

The Irish Pub Atmosphere & Experience

When walking into the Irish Pub on 20th and Walnut, you have a choice of sitting at some small tables with stools along the window side or walking up to the large main bar. If you wanted something to eat or have a group of friends, you can walk to the back to where there are booths or tables with a few extra rooms. There is also a small bar downstairs if you want to try and escape the large crowds on the weekend.

The decor is mostly of wood and stained glass, with many old pictures on the main wall opposite of the door. When the weather is nice, the large windows are opened upfront and there is seating outside along the sidewalk.

The pub has 20 + beers on tap and a large selection of foods for your liking. If you want to hold a party or an event, there are several rooms that the Irish Pub can entertain you in with very reasonable party packages. This Pub is certainly a place to kick-off your St. Patricks celebration.

The Irish Pub believes in community and charities and supports numerous charitable events, including its own non-profit, The Irish Pub Children’s Foundation. This foundation organizes the annual Irish Pub Tour de Shore, a bike ride from Philadelphia to Atlantic City.  All money raised supports local children affiliated charities including The Daniel Faulkner Educational Grant Fund, The Philadelphia Police Survivor’s Fund and the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia.

The Irish Pub in 20 + years through its Children’s Foundation has raised over 1.2 million dollars. Not only can you have fun at their three locations, but help give back to some very special charities and organizations. The Irish Pub is not just about having fun, but giving back. And you can certainly have fun at this irish Pub.
