Philadelphia Eagles 2014-15 Season

It’s football season baby!! And who isn’t excited about the Philadelphia Eagles season with Chip Kelly in his second season.

Last year the Eagles just made it into the playoffs and didn’t last past the New Orleans Saints in the first round. But we feel differently about this year’s season.

In are opinion, the Eagles defense and special teams was their biggest weakness. We see a little improvement on defense for the 2014 season. Here is why.

Malcolm Jenkins, a safety from the Saints who replaces Patrick Chung, signed in the off season. We feel he is a much better upgrade who will be quarterbacking the secondary. He has the smarts and experience from a previous Super Bowl team as well.

The Eagles drafted 333-pound nose tackle Beau Allen to help stop the run and brought on Nolan Carroll, the cornerback from Miami, who will add some depth. One big question is, can we get some pressure on the quarterbacks during the season.

So as much as the Eagles defense is still not where we want it to be, we do see some improvement. Besides, the other players who played last year under first year defensive coordinator Bill Davis, have gotten to learn his system and gel together, which does take time on defense.

We definitely love the offense and see even a bigger improvement this year. Sure, we lost DeSean Jackson, but we felt all he really could do was stretch the field. He had a hard time getting off the line when being blocked. The offense is set up for many to succeed with decent talent. And bringing in Darren Sproles will add some excitement both as a running back and on special teams . Imagine Sproles and McCoy lined up in the backfield at the same time.

When it comes to kicking, the Eagles did get rid of 4th round pick Alex Henery, but kicker Cody Parkey has a much stronger leg and finished the pre-season on a very good note while hitting 2 field goals from 50 + yards.

The intangibles are unlimited and so is the wow factor. The Philadelphia Eagles went out and signed Mark Sanchez who looked very good in pre-season. We feel that he could start for over half the teams in the NFL right now and brings excellent experience, especially as a back up. And let’s not forget about Shady McCoy, probably the best back in football right now. McCoy will be used in so many sets, and this alone excites Eagles fans. Lastly, Chip Kelly, who seems to have a lot up his sleeve. The offense will definitely keep us in games, it will come down to the defense.

Our prediction for the Philadelphia Eagles 2014-15 season is 10-6. I myself feel that the Eagles could actually win 11 games this year. With the help of weak NFC East Division, and possibly winning a few close games that Vegas would have us losing, we are excited about Kelly part 2! What are your thoughts and or predictions? Please tell us.
