Pliny The Younger To Be Tapped At Eulogy Belgian Tavern In Old City Philadelphia

Pliny the Younger

‘One Of America’s Sought After Imbibes’

Get ready Philadelphia beer lovers! The anticipation is almost over!

The Russian River train is arriving in Philadelphia and it’s passenger, Pliny the Younger, will be visiting us for several weeks starting soon.

The City of Philadelphia has been highlighted in many articles over the years as one of the top ten cities in the world for its beer. Russian River Brewing is the creator behind this spectacular beer. Not only is it served at their Santa Rosa, CA location, but limited distribution is to other parts of California, Pennsylvania (Philadelphia area only), Denver, and Oregon.

Pliny the Younger is one of the highest-rated beers in the world and is considered a “triple” IPA, simply meaning that it is higher in alcohol and has tons of hops. Why one of America’s sought after beers? This is partially because of the beer’s well-balanced flavor and body, with the alcohol finishing at about 10.25%. The beer is remarkably dry for the amount of malt used in the recipe and is loaded with hop flavors, bitterness, and aromatics. The hops used in this year’s recipe are of excellent quality: Simcoe, Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo, and Tomahawk.

This beer is not meant to age AT ALL! Pliny the Younger is very much like the fresh catch of the day and best enjoyed right away!

Philly Tap Finder and others have tried to guess not only who will be tapping Pliny the Younger in 2016, but when it will first appear in the City of Brotherly Love. Here is Philly Tap Finder’s predictions for 2016. Click Here The Full Pint has listed some other Philly bars who will be serving Pliny the Younger. Click Here

Here at MyPhillyAlive, we think we have the first bar to serve Pliny the Younger here in Philly and we are the first to make this announcement thanks to our beer spies!

Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Old City will have the beer this Wednesday, February 24 and will be tapping this glorious beer on Thursday, February 25! Doors will open at 11 am. There won’t be any tickets sold, so it’s first come first serve. We have been told that there will 66 glasses to be sold and one 10 ounce glass per person.

Some other bars that have already announced the tapping of Pliny the Younger?

Others who may get Pliny the Younger

Is it insane to consider the regularly scheduled release of a single beer a news item? Sure it is. Especially since Philadelphia has so many beer lovers! But it’s also pretty nuts how quickly those tapping this beer sell out so quickly or the events featuring the limited brew sell out.

When select bars do get their allotment of the special beer, beer geeks line up quickly. We’ll be tracking news of PTY and will post updates on where to find it here, so bookmark this page and check back often. For best updates, please follow Philly Tap Finder on Twitter or Facebook.

Things to remember when waiting in line at those bars that will be serving on a first come first serve policy. Be polite and respectful. Those visiting Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Old City and who might be in a group, have one person wait in line while others explore Old City. You can go to the art district or head to the many museums in the area.
