The Easter holiday is fast approaching in the City of Brotherly Love and brings a number of egg hunts, many Easter brunches and dinners, and the chance to hang with Peter Cottontail for those adorable photos. Coincidentally, the furry bunny can be found all throughout the city for everyone’s enjoyment.

Below are our picks for such Easter activities and events taking place this Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, April 13

 

East Passyunk East Egg Hunt ~ FREE ~ From 11 am to 2 pm at the South Philadelphia Older Adults Center (SPOAC) at 1430 E Passyunk Ave. During this free event, kids will decorate egg-collecting bags, pose for photos with the Easter Bunny, enjoy music from BenFM and then – hunt for eggs filled with toys and candy. ~ East Passyunk East Egg Hunt ~

Easter Bunny Express ~ The Easter Bunny hops aboard the train for a 1½-hour round-trip ride to Ashland, and all kids will get a special treat. Bring your camera to take pictures of your kid posing with the Easter Bunny. Departure times are 10:30 am, 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm from the Greenbank Railroad Station located at 2201 Newport-Gap Pike in Wilmington, DE. ~ Easter Bunny Express ~

Easter Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt at Elmwood Park Zoo – Starting at 10:30 am & 12:30 pm, enjoy Easter brunch, a meet-and-greet with the Easter bunny and then egg hunting at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. Kids can hop aboard a hayride as it carries you through the woods to the Easter Bunny’s house where you’ll have the chance to meet Linvilla’s Easter Bunny in person! Philly Rabbit Run – 5k Run/Walk: Shake it Off for Parkinson’s hosts this event at the Philadelphia Zoo, which starts at 7:45 am. Runners and Walkers will enjoy the wonderful grounds of the Philadelphia Zoo and along the surrounding city walkways. ~ Philly Rabbit Run – 5k Run/Walk ~

Easter Egg Hunt At Reading Terminal Market: FREE – Held at the Piano Court at the Reading Terminal Market from 8 am to noon. The Easter Bunny will be available from 8:30 am to noon. Egg Hunt for ages 0 – 11 is 8 am to 10 am (bring your own basket). The Hop-Along Trail at Franklin Square: FREE – From 11 am – 2 pm at the Franklin Square playground. Children 10 and under will receive a map, ”carrot cards” and an Easter Egg box, which they will use to navigate Franklin Square in search of giant spring tulips. At each stop, kids will give their “carrot cards” to receive Easter eggs. Once children complete the trail, a surprise guest awaits at the last stop! ~ Egg Hunt at Franklin Square ~

Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation Children’s Easter Egg Hunt: There will be three hunts divided by age group. It will begin at 11:00 am (1-4 years), 11:15 am (5-8 years) and 11:30 am (9-12 years). There will be a puppet show as well. Free for members and non-members admission is $8.00 for adults/children 4 to 12 and children under 4 are free. Pre-registration is strongly encourage to guarantee your child’s spot – limited tickets sold! The farm is located in Ridley Creek State Park in Norristown, PA. The GPS address is 3900 N. South Street Easter Promenade: FREE event for families that starts at 12:30 pm. The 88th Annual Easter Promenade, one of the oldest Easter festivities will feature a parade, live music, photos, costume contests and even a visit from the Easter Bunny & Mrs. Peter Cottontail. The parade leaves from South Street and Passyunk Avenue at 12:30 pm and heads down South Street to 2nd Street. Prizes will be awarded in 12 categories for best dressed kids, families and even FIDO too! After the festivities, stay for a fabulous brunch on South Street. Event is rain or shine.
