‘Family Fun With Peter Cottontail’
The Easter holiday is fast approaching in the City of Brotherly Love and brings a number of egg hunts, many Easter brunches and dinners, and the chance to hang with Peter Cottontail for those adorable photos. Coincidentally, the furry bunny can be found all throughout the city for everyone’s enjoyment.
Below are our picks for such Easter activities and events taking place this Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, April 15
Philly Rabbit Run – 5k Run/Walk: Shake it Off for Parkinson’s hosts this event at the Philadelphia Zoo, which starts at 8 am. Runners and Walkers will enjoy the wonderful grounds of the Philadelphia Zoo and along the surrounding city walkways. ~ Philly Rabbit Run – 5k Run/Walk ~
Easter Egg Hunt At Reading Terminal Market: FREE – Held at the Piano Court at the Reading Terminal Market from 9 am to 11:30 am. The Easter Bunny will be available from 9 am to 10:30 am. Egg Hunt for ages 1-5 is 9:30 am to 10 am. Ages 6 – 11 is 9:45 am to 10 am. There will be story time & egg dyeing from 10 am to 11:30 am. ~ Easter Egg Hunt At Reading Terminal Market ~
Awbury Arboretum Egg Hunt: FREE – Starting at 10 am to 12 pm, children are encouraged to bring their own baskets to hunt for Easter eggs on the grounds of the Awbury Arboretum in Historic Germantown. ~ Awbury Arboretum Egg Hunt ~
Egg Hunt Hayrides: April 14 & 15 from 10 am – 4 pm at Springdale Farms in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Children will be able to hunt for eggs and trade them in for goodies, take pictures with the Easter bunny, receive a spring plant and more. ~ Egg Hunt Hayrides at Springdale Farms ~
Hayrides to Bunnyland at Linvilla Orchards: Taking place April 8 to 15 - from 11 am – 4 pm, hop aboard a hayride as it carries you through the woods to the Easter Bunny’s house where you’ll have the chance to meet Linvilla’s Easter Bunny in person! Great Egg Hunt at Franklin Square: FREE - April 15 - From 11 am – 1 pm, children 10 and under can hunt for eggs filled with candy and other surprises in the Franklin Square playground. ~ Egg Hunt at Franklin Square ~
Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation Children’s Easter Egg Hunt: There will be three hunts divided by age group. It will begin at 11:00 am (1-4 years), 11:15 am (5-8 years) and 11:30 am (9-12 years). The Farm will close at 4:00 pm. Admission is $8.00 for adults/children 4 to 12 and children under 4 are free. Pre-registration is strongly encourage to guarantee your child’s spot – limited tickets sold! Easter Bunny Express: April 14 & 15 ~ The Easter Bunny hops aboard the train for a 1½-hour round-trip ride to Ashland, and all kids will get a special treat. Bring your camera to take pictures of your kid posing with the Easter Bunny. Departure times are 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm from the Greenbank Railroad Station located at 2201 Newport-Gap Pike in Wilmington, DE. ~ Easter Bunny Express ~
Stenton’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt: FREE - April 15 - From 1 pm – 3 pm, head on over to the Stenton historic home in Germantown. Event includes egg hunt, natural egg dyeing, crafts and games! Event is free & donations are welcomed. All ages are welcome, but egg hunts are for children under 10 & that the kids bring their own baskets. Easter Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt at Elmwood Park Zoo: Both Sessions SOLD OUT – Starting at 10:30 am & 12:30 pm, enjoy Easter brunch, a meet-and-greet with the Easter bunny and then egg hunting at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. Sunday, April 16
South Street Easter Promenade: Free event for families that starts at 12:30 pm. The 86th Annual Easter Promenade, one of the oldest Easter festivities will feature a parade, live music, photos, costume contests and even a visit from the Easter Bunny & Mrs. Peter Cottontail. The parade leaves from South Street and Passyunk Avenue at 12:30 pm and heads down South Street to 2nd Street. Prizes will be awarded in 12 categories for best dressed kids, families and even FIDO too! After the festivities, stay for a fabulous brunch on South Street. Event is rain or shine. Easter Bunny Brunch and Egg Hunt at Elmwood Park Zoo: Starting at 10:30 am (Sold Out) or the 12:30 pm session, enjoy Easter brunch, a meet-and-greet with the Easter bunny and then egg hunting at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. City Tavern: Located in Old City on 138 S. 2nd Street, City Tavern is a historic restaurant that offers a multi-course brunch from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on Easter Sunday. Enjoy such menu items as mushroom barley soup, smoked salmon and trout, mallard duck sausage, Chesapeake eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, shrimp, scallops & crab claws and much more.

Four Season Hotel: Enjoy an Easter celebration at either the Fountain Restaurant or the Lounge at the Four Seasons Hotel. Spirit of Philadelphia: Enjoy Easter on the Spirit of Philadelphia while cruising the Delaware River. Lunch will be served from 1 pm – 3 pm or dinner from 6 pm – 8 pm.
