ESPN ‘College Game Day’ At Independence Mall For Temple Owls vs Notre Dame Game October 31, 2015

ESPN College Game Day in Philadelphia - Notre Dame at Temple October 31, 2015

‘T For Temple U’

Hey Philly, get out your Red and White!

ESPN’s “College GameDay” show is coming to Philadelphia Saturday morning for the Temple vs. Notre Dame Saturday night showdown at Lincoln Financial Field on October 31.

No. 21 Temple hosts No. 6 Notre Dame in one of the most significant games in the school’s history.

College Game Day, with host Rece Davis and analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard, will go from 9 am to noon on Saturday, October 31.

Washington State was in the running for this weekend’s Game Day, yet Temple and Philadelphia beat them out.

For those who follow the Sunday announcements to where “College Game Day” will be held that week, it was delayed until Monday afternoon for several reasons. We could take in affect that traveling to Washington State’s campus from James Madison, host to this past weekend’s Game Day, would take several days.

Common sense would also state that because Kirk Herbstreit works on both College Game Day in the morning and in the booth for the Saturday night ABC primetime game, which this week is Notre Dame at Temple, it would make perfect sense that Game Day would visit the City of Brotherly Love.

From some inside sources, Game Day wanted to host the show outside Independence Hall. Independence Hall is a National Historic Site on Independence Mall which is a three-block section of  Independence National Historical Park. Because of that, ESPN may need permission for filming, because it’s federal land, not city or private property and there are many different permits that are required to stage events in that area.

From all indicators, it’s a go here in Philly!

Some other great facts:

    • It’s College Game Day’s 300th Show!
    • The only previous “GameDay” broadcast from Philadelphia was Nov. 16, 2002 for the Harvard-Penn game. The hometown Quakers won 44-9.
    • The Game Day show will be back on December 12 for the Army-Navy game, which will also be played at Lincoln Financial Field.

In addition, the Friday episode of “College Football Live” will be at 2:00 pm and will likely air from the Game Day site. We expect big crowds for both days and a wide range of creative signs, especially very creative costumes since it’s Halloween.

The Biggest Question is will Lee Corso be wearing a Temple Owls head or will he be dressed as a leprechaun when he picks Saturday night’s winner!

Pre-Game fun!

Plough and the Stars

The Plough and the Stars, located in Old City, will be having a dance off for charity between a Temple Owl and Lepreshawn. The fun event, put on by two members of the Second Street Plough Bhoys Celtic Supporters Club, will take place at 10 pm, helping to raise money for the Kano Foundation!
