Who gets excited about decorating trees during the holidays. There will be many tree lighting celebrations throughout the City of Brotherly Love this 2014 holiday season!

There will be much more than just beautiful trees being lit. Many of these community celebrations will have live music, hot coco, holiday giveaways, Christmas carols will be sung, dance performers and much more.

Below, find our favorite local tree lighting celebrations that offer community excitement, fun and the spirit of giving with elaborate light displays this holiday season.   • Monday, December 1 ~ Rittenhouse Square ~ Starts at 5:00 pm

Rittenhouse Square will embrace its holiday season by turning on a beautiful tree standing more than 30 feet tall with 5,000 twinkling lights. Santa himself will be on hand to light the tree up for the 2014 season. Enjoy toasty hot chocolate, Christmas carols, candy canes, and a surprise giveaway from TD Bank during this festive event. Don’t forget to stick around the neighborhood for dinner or shopping.

  • Wednesday, December 3 ~ LOVE Park ~ Starts at 5:00 pm

After Dilworth Park’s construction being finished, LOVE Park will still have their tree lighting ceremony, for its 4th year in a row. The 38-foot tree will display thousands of colorful LED lights in helping you get into the festive holiday spirit. There will be singers and performers to get you into the holiday spirit prior to the tree being lit at about 6:06 pm. Maynor Nutter and his wife will be on hand to help light the tree as well. While you’re there, be sure to browse through the booths of ornaments, handmade Christmas gifts, snacks and seasonal drinks at the perennial favorite Christmas Village. ~  Info for City Hall Tree Lighting Ceremony will be updated soon ~

  • Thursday, December 4 ~ The Singing Fountain East Passyunk Ave ~ Starts at 5:00 pm

Come celebrate the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Singing Fountain on Tasker Street & East Passyunk Avenue with carolers from Alphabet Academy, music by students from Andrew Jackson School, a visit from Santa Claus, and free food/drink samples from Avenue restaurants. At 7 pm kick off our “Deck the Halls” holiday promotion and stroll down the Avenue for extended shopping hours, dinner and drink specials, and more. This event is from 5-7 pm.

  • Friday, December 6 ~ Waterfront Winterferst Tree Lighting ~ Starting time will be announced soon

Come down to this new Wonderland,the Waterfront Winterfest, at Penn’s Landing outside the Blue Cross RiverRink. Activities and such will be updated soon.

  • Saturday, December 7 ~ Main Street Manayunk ~ Starts at 3:00 pm

Manayunk will be ringing in the holiday season with Santa Claus, holiday carols, hot cocoa and a Christmas tree lighting. ‘Santa on Ice’ Sculptures will begin at 3 pm, followed by pictures with Santa from 4-6 pm and then the tree lighting ceremony at 6 pm at Canal View Park. Don’t forget to the neighborhood shops and restaurants after the festivities. ~ Info on Holidays in Manayunk

  • Saturday, December 7 ~ Phillies – Citizens Bank Park Tree Lighting ~ Starts at 10:30 am

Lots of fun at Citizen’s Bank Park today. Starting at 10:30 am, meet and greet the broadcasters. From 11 am to 2 pm, take your picture with Phanta Claus. From 2 pm to 5 pm, the first 500 fans can take their pictures out on the field and get a dugout visit. Lastly, the tree will be lit at 5 pm. ~ Tree Lighting at Citizens Bank Park ~

  • Sunday, December 8 ~ South Street Headhouse District Winter Extravaganza ~ Starts at 4:00 pm

Come enjoy this winter extravaganza with the family. This event will take place from 4 pm to 7 pm, with dance performances by the Society Hill Dance Academy and the Philadelphia Dance Academy, ornament making by Expressive Hand, Free horse-drawn carriage rides and much more. Santa visits at 5 pm and the tree lighting will begin at 6:30 pm. Don’t forget to visit the shops and restaurants afterwards. ~ Info on the  South Street Headhouse District Winter Wonderland
