It’s that time of year again when Philadelphians get excited about Philly Beer Week. Not only those from the city or the surrounding area, but those who specifically come to this week long event for a specific reason from far away. Especially since Philly Beer Week is celebrating 11 years of beers!

Did you know that Philly Beer Week is the largest and oldest beer celebration of its kind in the United States. All of this would make perfect sense since Philadelphia has been part of many firsts and recognized as one of the World’s Best Cities for Beer.

With so many activities in 10 days, we wanted to give you specific details and a breakdown about the upcoming events, festivals, tours, beer tastings , dinners, and much more.

Philly Beer Week is June 1 – June 10 : Events, activities, and more

June 1, Friday

  • The Hammer of Glory Relay ~ Starts at 10 am & ends around 6 pm ~  The Hammer of Glory Relay is an annual event to where the Hammer itself is transported various ways from bar to bar throughout the city. The Hammer symbolizes the spirit and fun of Philadelphia being an unique beer-centric community.

The Hammer of Glory, aka the HOG, will start at 10 am, as it travels to many different bars and breweries, hitting a total of 25 before it ends up in the hands of a special guest, where it will be used to tap the ceremonial first keg of Philly Beer Week at 8 pm at The Fillmore (26 East Allen St). For those that want to venture on the HOG Relay and not have to worry about transportation. for $15 a person, beergoers will be transported bar to bar by a school bus.   • Opening Tap ~ 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm ~ Held at The Fillmore (26 East Allen Street) – Giving you ample samples from the region’s top breweries, 60 + of which have been confirmed. Micros/brewpubs – they’ll  be pouring the finest ales and lagers, including seasonal beers. Live music will be performed, The 8th Annual Philadelphia Inquirer Brew-vitational awards will be given out, and surprises with a keepsake sampling cup. Want to start early, get a VIP ticket. One-hour limited audience tasting session starting at 6:30 pm, featuring a selection of special beers paired with complimentary beer-friendly food. June 2, Saturday

  • Morning Wood Brunch ~ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm ~ Held at Grey Pub Lodge at 6235 Frankford Ave in NE Philly. Join Brewery Rep Drew for Morning Wood Beer Brunch at The Grey Lodge Pub. Abbey Dubbel Sour will be on tap during brunch. ~ Event ~
  • It’s A Firkin Riot ~ 11:00 am – 1:00 am ~ Held at Johnny Brenda’s at 1201 Frankford Ave. Johnny Brenda’s 9th year running with this cask beer riot! They will be serving fresh, delicious local beer from their custom welded rack that holds 6 firkins and sits atop of the bar. The kitchen will be serving up UK inspired fare and DJs will be spinning British rock all day. 
  • Bullfrog Brunch ~ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm ~ Held at Standard Tap at 901 N. 2nd StStandard Tap brunch classics paired with Bullfrog Brewery’s sour, wild, and wood-aged beers!
  • Tailgate Olympics ~ 12:00 am – 5:00 pm ~ Held at Devil’s Den 1148 S 11th St, join your favorite local brewery teams as they compete against you in the tailgate Olympics. Play some fun games such as Baggo, Washers, Can Jam, Giant Beer Pong & Ladder Golf against teams Weyerbacher, Yards, 2SP, Evil Genius & Love City! Event ~
  • Urban Village Pig Roast ~ All Day Saturday ~ Held at Urban Village Brewing at 1001 N 2nd St. Enjoy a pig roast and live music. There will be a special menu with creations utilizing all of the roasted suckling pig – from Sandwiches to pizza creations. They’ll also have more bottles of Dime Piece and Happy Birthday for sale, as well as cans of Super Villain. Event ~
  • Luau BBQ ~ 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm ~ Held at Uptown Beer Garden at 1735 Market St. Enjoy a Hawaiian-inspired BBQ cookout, $5 fruity drafts, and $7 beer cocktails. Live music from Life in Progress, with a very special appearance by Naj on the Uke. Mahalo nui loa. ~ Event ~

June 3, Sunday

  • Founders Brunch 11:00 am – 2:00 pm ~ Held at Lucky’s Last Chance at 848 S 2nd St in Queen Village. Lucky’s is very excited to roll out this super special, super secret brunch menu for your Sunday enjoyment paired with the delicious beers of Founders. Event Details ~
  • The Brunch Punch ~ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm ~ Held at Pistola’s Del Sur at 1934 East Passyunk Ave. Pistola’s Del Sur kicks off their live music brunch for the summer with Highway Manor Brewing and special guest, Johnnie Compton. Guests will be enjoying 3 draft selections from Highway Manor, Mr. Blueberry, Mr. Wheatie, and the Microflora Diaspora. Live music will be performed every Sunday by The Brunch Bunch including Nero Catalano, Frank Vacille, Casey Parker, and many more hooligans throughout the summer. Event Details ~
  • Beer From Away, The Mainerd Event ~ Noon – 2:00 am ~ Held at Bru Craft & Wurst at 1316 Chestnut St. Their sixth annual Maine brewery spotlight, bringing together three house favorites – Maine Beer Co, Oxbow, Allagash – and this year welcoming Liquid Riot into the fold, who are sending beer down to Philly for the first time for PBW. Each brewery will be pouring four specialty and newly released beers, with a wide variety of styles and flavor profiles represented. Come through for a few pints, flights, and oysters – and say hello to the good folks from Allagash, Oxbow, and Liquid Riot! ~ Event Details ~
  • Sterling Pig Cask Launch & Cookout ~ 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm ~ Held at Prohibition Taproom at 501 N. 13th St. Welcome Sterling Pig Beer to Prohibition Taproom’s devoted cask line. They’ll have inside and outside taps, and a cookout on 13th & Buttonwood featuring two styles of beer braised pork tacos, a face-off between their Chef Sydney Hanick and Sous Chef Zach Schnoor! June 4, Monday

  • Beer Week In The New World – Crafting A Post – Apocalypse Experience ~ 2:00 pm – until ~ Held at Mad Rex at 1000 Frankfird Ave #1 in Fishtown. Guests get a behind the scenes look at how Mad Rex crafted a truly unique and engaging experience – that created a new world through local and world art, an exclusive post-apocalypse beer, a virtual reality lounge, custom virtual reality experiences, and a Survivor’s kitchen with a menu designed for survival in the new day.  Guests will enjoy a complimentary sample of the custom beer, plus take a free brewery tour in the custom virtual reality experience created specially by Mad Rex for Blueprint.   • Omme-Gash! It’s Alla-Gang Tap Takeover! ~ 5:00 pm – Until ~ Held at Good Dog Bar at 224 S 15th StOmmegang Brewing and Allagash Brewing are back together again with everyone’s favorite beer ladies of Philly!!! Megan Maguire and Suzy Woods will be here with a bunch of amazing beers! From Ommegang Good Dog will be pouring the Saison Rose, Pale Sour, Smoked Porter, and Fruition. June 5, Tuesday

  • Old School Luncheon with Dogfish Head’s Sam Calagione~ 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm ~ Held at Monk’s Cafe at 264 S 16th St. Savor a four-course meal, plus a special treat from Tom’s Private Stash! Menu subject to change due to market conditions. Luncheon $75 per person includes 4 Courses, 6 Beers and taxes. Tip is NOT included. Event Details ~
  • A Pain Relievaz Beat Happening ~ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm ~ Held at Fergie’s Pub at 1214 Sansom St. Head upstairs at Fergie’s Pub for a very special performance, from Dogfish’s Sam Calagione & Bryan Selders – “The Pain Relievaz”. Enjoy delicious brews from Dogfish Head – while listening to them kicking it olde school! This is a FREE “concert”! Performing is our very own Sam Calagione & Bryan Selders. Pay-As-You-Go. ~ Events ~
  • Taco Tuesday With Allagash & Los Gallos ~ 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm ~ Held at Tap Room on 19th at 2400 S 19th StAllagash will be hanging out while Taproom pours some crazy good beers from this amazing brewery including: James Bean – Bourbon Barrel Tripel w/ Cold Brew Coffee Astrid – Aquavit Barrel Aged Brett Saison Victoria – Beer fermented with wine and Belgian yeast, with Chardonnay grapes Victor – Beer fermented with wine and Belgian yeast, with locally grown red grapes Hoppy Table – A hop-forward version of this low ABV super drinkable Belgian style Black – Belgian Style Stout.     responsible for one of the most consistently highly rated and sought-after beers in America, their Eclipse imperial stout, finished in different barrels and flavors. Pay-As-You-Go – They’ll also have limited quantities of 2017 Eclipse Grand Cru bottles available for takeout (warm, cellar this jawn), and PAPPY VAN WINKLE 10 yr and 20 yr tasters available – $40 for 1oz pour of each. ~ Event Details ~

June 6, Wednesday

Cumberland St. That’s right old vs new, sour vs bitter, hoppy vs malty we have every angle covered on this duel.   • Kingpin ~ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm ~ Held at Standard Tap at 901 N. 2nd St. Ten of your favorite local breweries compete to see whose pin will be the first to kick and be crowned KINGPIN! Join Standard Tap on the porch and help your favorite brewery kick their pin first! They will also open voting to a People’s Choice for best brew~ Drink, enjoy, vote, and see who is crowned the winner! ~ Event Details ~
  • Pizza Boy Arctic Trash Can Release Party ~ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm ~ Held at Garade Fishtown at 100 E. Girard AvePIZZA BOY BREWED A DANG BEER for Garage!!! Come celebrate the release of ARCTIC TRASH: Litter Your Mind, Not the Streets! A Sour Ale brewed lactose, lemon and tea. Tastes like a Lemon Tea Cooler! Featured Drafts: Brewery Pilsner, Float Along, West Shore, Hop For Teacher, Country Lager, Sunny Side Up And there will be NOODS!. Neighborhood Ramen will be in da kitchen serving their coveted ramen dishes! Also tapping Evil Genius’s super limited Strawberry Lime IPA they brewed for just for Beer Week. They’ll also have a table set up with Raffles and more– all proceeds will be donated to the NKCDC. We love our neighbors. 
  • Art On Beer ~ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm ~ Held at U-Bahn at 1320 Chestnut StLearn the story behind some of your favorite beer labels. Be honest, have you bought a beer just because the label caught your eye? Explore with us why the artists and the breweries make the decisions they do – be it an entire re-design, flavor series, or one-off, for the second installment of our Art on Beer moderated panel discussion. Not only does this ticket get you in on a super cool art & beer panel discussion, it includes $5 beers from all breweries represented on the panel, as well as, a specifically designed menu for the event! ~ Event Details & Tickets ~
  • Evil Genius Burlesque ~ 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm ~ Held at Evil Genius Brewing at 1727 N. Front St. Get reserved seating now! Glamorous Experiments in Seduction. Join us at The Lab for an evening of classic burlesque and serious brews as Evil Genius Beer Company presents: Secret Lair Burlesque – Glamorous Experiments in Seduction! June 7, Thursday

  • Get Yer Fill of Pils and Pierogies ~ 10:00 am – Midnight ~ Held at Grey Lodge Pub at 6235 Frankford Ave in NE Philly. Grey Lodge Pub will celebrate being in pilsner heaven with a pilsner tap take over. All 10 lines will be pouring pilsners. And of course they will be heavy on the locals. Get your fill of both pilsners and pierogies. Games as well. Pay-As-You-Go. Event Details ~
  • Beers and Boats at Bartram’s Garden ~ 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm ~ Held at Bartram’s Garden, celebrate Philly Beer Week in the great outdoors with local brews served at the Bartram’s Garden Community Boathouse on the Schuylkill River. Kayaks and rowboats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Brewing partners: Cartesian Brewing, Crime & Punishment Brewing Co., Dock Street Brewery, Philadelphia Homebrew Club, Point Breeze Brewing, and Sly Fox Brewing Company.  Tickets are $15 per person ($10 for members of Bartram’s Garden). Tickets include the cost of the first beer and a boat or kayak excursion out onto the Schuylkill River from our Community Boathouse.   • Late Night With Joe Gunn ~ 11:00 pm – 2:00 am ~ Held at Jose Pistola’s at 263 S 15th St. John Gunn, one of the owners of Pistola’s, will be hanging with the other two partners, Casey Parker and Adan Trinidad. This could spell trouble and a long night of drinking and story telling. If you saw photos from last year, they might give you a flash of your memory back – we’ll see you there. If the photos mean nothing, but peak curiosity – we’ll see you there. Time tested, not mother approved. 

June 8, Friday

  • Barrel Aged Extravaganza ~ Noon – Midnight ~ Held at The Twisted Tail at 509 S 2nd St in Society Hill. Enjoy a beautiful line up of barrel-aged beauties. Come and taste them individually, as a flight, or pair the beers with the spirit that was originally in the barrel! Sneak peek lineups include: Innis & Gunn Raspberry Saison, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, Goose Island Bourbon County Barleywine, Virtue Rose Cider Founders KBS Dominion Oak Barrel Stout…..and more.   • Friday with Founders & Mike’s BBQ ~ 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm ~ Held at Tap Room on 19th at 2400 S 19th St. Founders Brewing Co. is heading over to pour some great beer and Mike’s BBQ will be bringing that killer Q everyone’s talking about over to the Taproom! Some great Founders Beers on tap!! Mike’s BBQ will also be serving their Craig Laban approved Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak with Cooper Sharp Whiz and Onions on a Carangi Baking. ~ Event Details ~

  • Fishtown FestivALE ~ 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm ~ The 7th Annual Fishtown FestivALE. In honor of Philly Beer Week, your favorite beer destinations on the bustling Frankford Ave corridor in Fishtown are teaming up to bring you an outdoor party!Fishtown FestivAle takes over Frankford Ave with craft beer, DJ’s, food, games, music, vendors and more!Under Johnny Brenda’s tent at 1201 Frankford Ave, they will be serving up made-to-order waffles and pouring a variety of Sly Fox beers to help beat the summer heat!Bottle Bar East, at 1308 Frankford Ave, will be teaming up with Interstate Drafthouse. Bottle Bar East will be serving up the Fishtown Iced Tea on the sidewalk during this glorious event!! June 10, Sunday

  • Philly Beer Week Meets Philly Bluegrass ~ 12:00 – 9:00 pm ~ Held at Heritage at 914 N 2nd StCelebrate the close of Philly Beer Week with a full day of bluegrass music, plus featured local brews. The day begins with the weekly Heritage Bluegrass Brunch from 12 pm – 3 pm (pay-as-you-go), followed by an open, on-stage bluegrass jam, and performances into the night by some of Philly’s best bluegrass, with sets from The Citywide Specials, Midnight Flyer, River Bones Band, and other special guests. Tickets are pay-what-you-can. Suggested $10 minimum donation, with 100% going to the bands and Philly Bluegrass. ~ Event Details ~
  • T.T.U.D. That Totally Unnecessary Drink Presented By Dogfish Head ~ 7:00 pm – 11:45 pm ~ Held at Fergie’s Pub at 1214 Sansom StWe are all exhausted after another Philly Beer Week but we won’t stop. It is Live Band Karaoke and us, the people of Philly Beer Week – the tired, the wounded, the huddled masses of yore. Join us for some shenanigans. Say a large pretentious adieu to Philly Beer Week 2018. There will be still beer…
