History of Beck’s Cajun Cafe

Chef Bill Beck opened Beck’s Cajun Cafe in November of 2009. Chef Beck is a chef by trade, beginning over 25 years ago, who has earned three “Best of Philly” awards and has been on numerous television cooking shows.

Beck’s love for creole/cajun foods goes back to when he was 20 years old. These are the types of foods that has led him to his passion for cooking and sharing them with the City of Philadelphia.

Beck’s Cajun Cafe Experience & Atmosphere

The experience at Beck’s Cajun Cafe is not just that of his excellent creations and the friendly staff helping you, but that of the large proportions that you receive.

Beck's Cajun Cafe at the Reading Terminal Market in PhiladelphiaNowhere else in Philadelphia will you find the exotic, flavorful and spicy Cajun/Creole favorites you love, passionately prepared by Chef Bill Beck with authentic ingredients shipped direct from The Big Easy. Beck’s also makes their own spices, which they have three types that they use on most meals.

I had the pleasure of trying the Jambalaya bowl, which was very tasty, seasoned just right, and has a slight heat to it. It consists of andouille sausage, chicken, and shrimp with rice, peppers, onions, and cajun creole seasoning.

Another one of Beck’s specialties, which I had the pleasure of trying, is their Train Wreck PO’ Boy. This tasteful sandwich is made with steak, andouille sausage, salami, cheese, fried onions, and creole mayo. The Train Wreck PO’ Boy is the Cajun/Creole version of a Philly cheese steak.

What else can you get at Beck’s Cajun Cafe? You’ll find a few types of breakfast meals, alligator sausage, gator gumbo, a Muffaletta sandwich, cajun fries, corn bread, and a few selections for those that are vegetarians. Want to sit down an enjoy your food? There is also a counter next to the establishment that has 8 or so stools to sit down and enjoy your meal right there.
