Philadelphia is not only a great city, but the birthplace of America! Why not celebrate the Fourth of July in Philly during the best 6-day festival in the country!

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Wawa Welcome America! For six full days from June 29 to July 4, people of all ages will be able to enjoy free museum days, concerts, firework shows, parades, block parties, festive brunches and much more!

This year’s theme for the festival is “Everyone Is A History Maker!” At the Wawa Welcome America press conference May 23, NBC 10 and Telemundo62 President and General Manager Ric Harris said this in reference to the six-day festival;

This is American Pie. This is the Liberty Bell. This is the Declaration of Independence. This is Philadelphia!

The annual festival kick-offs with Wawa Hoagie Day on Thursday, June 29 at noon at the Independence Visitors Center, extending across to the National Constitution Centerwhich honors our U.S troops! The festival concludes on July 4 with the most patriotic events right where it all began at the Independence National Historic Park, plus the Wawa Welcome America July 4th concert and fireworks starring Mary J. Blige and the Philly Pops Big Band on the stage in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art! The concert will also honor Philadelphia hometown icons Boyz II Men.

New This Year

Visitors can enjoy festive brunches, special happy hours, Culture on Tap, which brings a pop-up al fresco drinking area to the courtyard of City Hall, more fireworks shows, Broadway shows will be performed at the Philadelphia’s Historic District Block Party and more Philadelphia neighborhood events.

Returning Traditions

Wawa Welcome America’s tried-and-true traditions return, which such events as Wawa Hoagie Day, free museum days, PECO Go 4th and Learn activities, Philly at the Movies, free concerts, fireworks, the block party, the Independence Day Parade and the Wawa Welcome America concert!

Fireworks Shows

There will now be four fireworks shows. Enjoy fireworks over the Delaware River on Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1, both at 9:30 pm! On Tuesday, July 4th, there will be two fireworks shows taking place nearly simultaneously. Fireworks-goers can either choose the Delaware River Waterfront or the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with each show beginning around 9:30 pm. The festival schedule has not-to-be-missed events and they are all FREE!
