After nearly two decades of serving up craft beer and tacos to the Center City community, Jose Pistola’s has permanently closed its doors.
The beloved 15th Street bar and restaurant broke the news to patrons via Instagram, confirming that after being temporarily closed for a few days, the shutdown is now permanent.
“We are unfortunately not going to be able to reopen,” the statement read. “We’d like to thank everyone who has come through our doors over the past 19 years. We have loved being a part of the center city community.”
While the sudden closure marks a disappointing end for the iconic watering hole, management stated that their immediate focus is entirely on helping their displaced staff transition and get whatever support they need.
In their parting message, the ownership team noted that while they “definitely didn’t want to go out this way,” they remain incredibly proud of the 19-year run they accomplished. Though the Center City location is shuttered, the team encouraged fans to visit them over the coming weeks, likely directing support to their popular sister establishments in the city, Sancho Pistola’s in Fishtown and Pistolas Del Sur in East Passyunk.
