‘Holiday Traditions in Philly’
Who has that holiday spirit!
One way to get into the Holiday spirit is to come check out the Annual City Hall tree lighting ceremony. Due to the construction of City Hall, for the third year in a row, this event will take place at the Christmas Village at Love Park.
This 38-foot tree will display thousands of colorful LED lights in helping you get into the festive holiday spirit. Mayor Nutter will have the honors this year, as he kicks of the 2013 holiday season by turning on the lights. He will be joined by other City officials, including City Representative Desiree Peterkin-Bell. This event will take place on Wednesday, December 4 at 5 pm.
There will be several activities surrounding the tree lighting event. There will be singing, music, food, mulled wine from Chaddsford Winery, and your chance to shop for homemade gifts by some of the vendors at the Christmas Village.
Performances of classic holiday songs by: Philadelphia’s String Theory High School Choir, R&B group MPrynt, Latin dance group Grupo Fuego, contemporary jazz company Introspective Movement Project, a member of the Forrest Theatre’s cast of Jersey Boys, and Kirby Asunto, who recently sang the national anthem at the GORE-TEX Philadelphia Marathon. There will also be a surprise musical guest who will perform.
