“It’s Time To Rediscover An American Classic – Philadelphia!”

Keep smiling Philadelphia!

The City of Brotherly Love, according to National Geographic, is one of the must-go-to places everyone should visit in the world!

Author Johnna Rizzo reflects on Philly as a metropolis of the unexpected in the midst of an exciting reinvention, saying that “Philly has changed from a city of industrial might … to a city of ingenious makers.”

Rizzo continues, stating that the excitement in Philly is expressed within the city’s art. She draws attention to the wide-ranging installations such as The Electric Street neon installation off East Passyunk Avenue, Klip Collective’s holiday Deck the Hall Light Show, as well as the familiar LOVE sculpture, and the William Penn statue on City Hall).

The article goes on to mention Philly’s “vibrant murals and glinting metalworks, multihued mosaics and kaleidoscopic light installations, art collectives in garages, and a traditionally Italian neighborhood famous for cheesesteaks now sprouting vegan-punk-metal coffeehouses” as reasons to take a trip to the City of Brotherly Love.

As to what makes Philly the place to be, the publication writes:

Think of Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincinnati: resurgent, postindustrial American cities that are channeling creative forces to reinvent themselves for a new generation. Philly is like this but better. It’s a scrappy underdog with a heart of gold and — who can resist the “Rocky” reference? — the eye of the tiger.”

Elsewhere, Rizzo finds lots to love in the city’s dining scene, noting that “food in America’s first capital city is being reinvented at a radical clip.”

Overall, why should anyone be surprised on the many accolades that Philadelphia has received in the last decade.
