‘A Gorgeous Weekend to Enjoy Outdoor Activities in Philly’
Wow! It’s looking to be a nice weekend with many events lined up for the next 30 days! Just a helpful reminder. You might want to bring your appetite prior to reading what we have in store for you.
This is the time of year when the food festivals start taking shape in April and May. We already had the 2nd annual Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival & the Philly Farm & Food event. What another treat this weekend when we have the Flavors of the Avenue on East Passyunk, the PIFA street fair and the Festival of Forgotten Foods. Then heading into May, you have the South Street Head House Spring Festival, the Philadelphia Night Market Street Food Festival, the 9th Street Italian Market Festival, and Philly Beer Week starting May 31. What’s your favorite food festival?
Did you know : Philadelphia was named 1 of the top 10 US travel destinations for 2013. Also named for having the best sandwich in America, #2 in best burgers in the country by Travel + Leisure and in the last 8 months, the city has been recognized for top 10 parks in the world, best cheesesteaks, and #1 in Culture. We can feel that the list will be growing in 2013.

- Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts Street Fair ~ April 27 ~ PIFA is from 11 am to 7 pm. There will be food vendors, artisans, and exhibitors that will fill the street while Philadelphians are captivated and entertained by a wide variety of unique street performers, musicians, and family-friendly programming on Broad Street. ~ PIFA Street Fair ~
- Flavors of the Avenue on East Passyunk Ave ~ April 27 ~ From Noon to 4 pm, enjoy a true taste of East Passyunk Avenue from 25 of award-winning restaurants, all offering samples of their signature dishes and drinks. There will be live music and a craft market also. ~ Flavors of the Avenue ~
- Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~ April 27 & May 1 ~ Starts at 10 am every Wed & Sat – Learn the story behind cheese steaks, hoagies, pretzels and other Philly food favorites, and the 114-year history of the vibrant Reading Terminal Market where they’re sold during this 75-minute, food-writer-led walking tour. ~ Taste of Philadelphia: Market Tours ~

- American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of the Prohibition ~ Now until April 28 ~ At the National Constitution Center, Explore the build-up, execution and legacy of the ill-fated 18th Amendment in American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition. The exhibition features 100 rare artifacts and collectibles like a 1929 Buick Marquette, a car make and model that was often used by bootleggers to transport alcohol and much more. ~ The Rise and Fall of the Prohibition ~

- The Artifact Lab – Mummy Conversation at Penn Museum ~ Now until (no date set) ~ Here is your chance to get up close and personal. Watch conservators clean, examine, & preserve Egyptian Mummies at Penn Museum. - Philadelphia Parks – Such as Fairmount Park or even Franklin Square for the kids or relaxing.

- Philly Beer Week ~ May 31 – June 9 ~ The Main event is the Opening Ceremony that starts at 7 pm on May 31st at the Independence Visitors Center. There will be all kinds of events for 10 days, surrounding beer & the history of beer, with taste testing events. ~ Philly Beer Week ~
