‘Enjoy Good Food, Family Fun, and Hayrides’
Fall has approached and it’s time for pumpkins, Halloween, fabulous foods, hayrides, and that means Harvest time!
Head over to the Reading Terminal Market with the family to celebrate the foods of the Pennsylvania harvest at the Market’s 19th Annual Harvest Festival on October 19 from 10 am to 4 pm. You’ll get to sample locally grown fall fruits and vegetables from the festival while savoring some delicious barbecue. There will be turkey legs, grilled pork ribs, pumpkin humus, pulled pork, candy apples, harvest cookies, jewelry and crafts, skincare and lip balm, a beer garden and much much more.
Enjoy a hayride outside the Market door’s on Filbert Street. This will be your chance, both kids and adults, to climb on an authentic farm tractor for a hay ride around the Market. You can also take a walk through the pumpkin patch and even a photo with the family or friends. There will even be live animals from the Philadelphia Zoo!
Looking for a special treat? Stop by Beck’s Cajun Cafe for some special fall special treats such as: burgers, chicken wings and corn on the grill. Other vendors such as Giunta’s Prime Shop will be serving grilled sausage sandwiches, ice cream from Bassett’s Ice Cream, mini pumpkin funnel cakes from Fox & Son Fancy Corn Dogs, seasonal baked goods from Flying Monkey, chocolate covered apples from Mueller Chocolate Company and many others. Also, head on over to Jack McDavid’s Down Home Diner for some of his famous pork ribs and a whole pig.
Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes, because from 11 am – 3 pm there will be live music by Shakey Lyman, which will set the stage for a fun-filled afternoon in the city.
Important Tip: Filbert Street will be closed to traffic to for the authentic hay ride around the market and for the pumpkin patch.
